The Fixed Income Mortgage Investment Analyst will support mortgage-backed securities, structured credit, and commercial real estate debt portfolios. The analyst will be responsible for analyzing mortgage bonds and CRE loans, performing relative value analyses, and reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing data and research in support of the MBS and CRE Debt portfolio managers.
Responsibilities
- Create and update complex Excel spreadsheets to produce analyses, include prepayment model comparisons, portfolio and index total return analyses, and relative value analyses across fixed income sectors with a focus on MBS and CRE Debt
- Track bond prices, analyze bonds, and recommend prices for MBS
- Gather, analyze, and report on CRE loan performance using metrics such as Occupancy, Debt Yield, DSCR, and LTV
- Interact with outside managers, including summarizing insights from update calls and gathering and reporting data on portfolios
- Review Wall Street analyst research, produce summaries, and identify key insights for portfolio managers
- Serve as a backup to MBS and CRE Debt portfolio managers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; Master’s is preferred
- CFA is preferred (analyst will be expected to complete the CFA program if not currently a CFA Charterholder)
- 6+ years of experience in fixed income analysis or related field
- Experience with mortgage-backed securities and/or CRE debt is preferred
- Excellent analytical skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (knowledge of VBA programming a plus)
- Experience using Bloomberg (including Excel Add-in), BlackRock Aladdin/Anser, and YieldBook a plus
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including ability to summarize complex topics
- Ability to work independently; self-starter
