The subscription is only 100 Egyptian pounds per year for all segments
7,846 Egyptian citizens abroad subscribed to the first insurance policy for workers abroad within the first 4 days of its launch, according to a report received by the Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad, Ambassador Nabila Makram.
According to the report, the number of Egyptians abroad who subscribed to the insurance during the first day of implementing the insurance reached 1,119 citizens, and on the second day 2,300 citizens, while the number of subscribers on the third day reached 2,427 citizens, in addition to the number of subscribers on the fourth day, which amounted to 2,000 citizens.
The first insurance for Egyptians working and residing abroad began to be implemented , starting from Saturday, January 1, 2022.
The report monitored, according to a statement by the Ministry of Immigration, the reactions of Egyptians abroad who subscribed to the insurance about their knowledge of it, its conditions and the cases it covers.
The Minister of Immigration Nabila Makram said that providing the first insurance for Egyptians traveling and residing abroad came in response to many claims from Egyptians abroad to provide insurance that covers death cases, whether death by accident or natural death, to ensure a dignified return in these difficult times, without the need to submit an insolvency certificate or other papers.
Ambassador Nabila Makram added that coordination has been made with the Ministry of Interior, the Financial Supervisory Authority, and the Egyptian Insurance Federation; To implement insurance with the participation of the Egyptian Association for Insurance of Travel Abroad, which includes insurance companies scheduled to implement insurance, to extend the insurance umbrella for Egyptians abroad, in line with the state’s strategy to achieve insurance coverage in the market.
The Minister explained that the mechanism for applying the insurance, which was implemented as of Saturday, January 1, 2022, is based mainly on the personal data of the insured whose name is mentioned in the work permit and passport, and submitted to the Egyptian Group for Travel Insurance abroad, which is a basis for contracting and an integral part of insurance, by entering the link Then register the required data, an email is sent to confirm the registration, then the Egyptian abroad enters his own data and pays the insurance premium, which amounts to only 100 Egyptian pounds per year for all segments, through the electronic portal of Banque Misr.
As for the cases covered by the insurance coverage and the amounts paid by the insurance group, in the event of death in an accident, the group is obligated to pay an amount of 100,000 pounds only, as the group pays the actual cost of preparing, shipping and transporting the body to the homeland according to the documents submitted to the group, then the rest of the amount is distributed to the legal heirs According to the genetic information that is submitted to the group.
In the event of a natural death, the association pays the actual cost of preparing, shipping and transporting the body only, and it does not exceed 100,000 Egyptian pounds.
One of the insurance conditions is that the insured must be at least 65 years old, and upon the occurrence of an accident or death, the association is notified within seven days by the insured or his representative, whether through the association’s website or by calling the association’s phone, via e-mail, or the administration General Work Permit Police.
He shall submit to the congregation all medical reports, death certificate and any documents related to the accident, and if the insured or his representative fails to perform these obligations or delays in fulfilling them, his right to claim compensation arising from this accident is forfeited unless it is clear from the circumstances that his delay was for an acceptable excuse.
