Nutrition Assistants (National Contract)
The Nutrition Assistants with be responsible for the day to day running of the OTP and TSFP sites, including admission, management and discharges following the CMAM protocols and related documentation.
Responsible for the implementation of Out Patient Therapeutic Program and Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme (CMAM), at health unit and community level.
Monthly routine screening at the community level, and ensuring appropriate referral of the cases of malnutrition identified.
Register SAM cases and on a weekly basis provide RUTF, inform motherscaretakers about their children weight and growth status, using the growth monitoring card (Child Heath Card).
Ensure that OTP register books are well filled in, and the beneficiary cards are filled and with all information for the particular child, for easy follow up.
Support and supervise the Community health workers/ Volunteers for mobilization activities, follow up of the defaulter cases.
Provide MUAC training to the CNVs/CHW, and support them to carry out community screening on a regular basis.
Facilitate the implementation of Social behaviour change (SBC) and support to the Maternal Infant and Young Child feeding program and hygiene promotion at nutrition/health post.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Certificate in Nursing, Health Education or a trained Community Health Worker certificate
- At least 1 year experience working in nutrition programs, within Government or NGOs set up.
- Working experience in the related field for IMC is an added advantage.
- Ability to cope and work under in the field site
- Good oral and written English language a necessity and local language
- High flexibility and ability to work without close supervision
Ability to work for long hours especially in hard to reach locations within your facility catchment areas
Desirable
- Experience working with the local communities.
- Arabic or other local language a huge advantage.
Contract Duration: 5 Months
