LOOKING FOR A SENIOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL SPECIALIST TO JOIN OUR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE TEAM

Location: Washington, DC area highly preferred. Other remote locations may be considered.

Job purpose:

The Sr. Business Development Proposal Specialist (SBDPS) will focus primarily on developing technical proposals for current live and upcoming proposals in response to USG, UN, and bilateral donor solicitations. In additional, the SBDPS will contribute substantively to bid management, conducting market and/or donor analyses, building out capes materials, and opportunity specific reviews of teaming priorities. Furthermore, the SBDPS will facilitate with other relevant division business units including, but not limited to: Finance; Operations; Human Resource; Regional Offices; Technical Departments; and country field offices.

This is a high energy role and will require the ability to work effectively on complex opportunities with multiple donors, often with challenging time constraints across multiple time zones.

Key Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Carefully assessing donor requirements for every live opportunity, including: outline technical priorities, the development of full compliance matrices, and the development of scoring criteria for use evaluation technical proposals.
  • Drafting technical proposals, management plans, staffing plans, corporate capes, and other relevant sections as required by specific solicitations.
  • Revising technical drafts and other sections of the proposal based on internal review processes.
  • Preparing proposal management plans (in Smartsheet) which articulate phases, timelines, activities, and responsibilities for all live bids.
  • Coordinating execution of proposal management plans and serve as proposal coordinator to assure all participants in bid process are aware of timelines, deliverables, color review meetings etc. and problem solve issues as they arise in collaboration with International Development team members.
  • Driving BD related knowledge management including, but not limited to: assuring cloud based KM platform is well organized and easy to navigate; up to date; secure; and accessible to staff and consultants on an as-needed basis.
  • Identifying, develop and manage capture plans for USG and other high priority funding opportunities that are relevant for Miyamoto’s programmatic priorities in target countries.
  • Leading and or contribute substantively to opportunity related research and analysis in collaboration with Sr. BD Director, technical staff, field staff and other colleagues.
  • Review key donor portals (USG, multi-lateral, non-USG bilateral etc.) 2X daily to monitor opportunities and notify core BD group in real time of any bid drops, changes in forecast, RFIs and/or other opportunity information.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ demonstrated success writing technical proposals for USAID, other major bi-lateral donors, and multi-lateral donors.
  • Excellent technical skills in writing, editing, formatting, research, negotiation, and verbal communications.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and sense of humor.
  • Attention to detail, in particular assuring full compliance with donor requirements including, but not limited to: technical approach, staffing, formatting, and required attachments or other supplemental materials.
  • Experience with and/or ability to quickly master key IT tools, in particular Smartsheet, Excel, Google Sheets, Microsoft Outlook etc.
  • Working knowledge of a second language: French, Spanish or Arabic is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in international relations/international development, business, or a related field. Master’s degree a plus.
  • Ability to maintain and manage corporate confidential information.
  • Deep knowledge of industry standards, rules, and regulations.
