The Asus ZenBook UX425JA is extremely slim and light, with a 14-inch screen in a body the size of most 13-inch laptops. The design is neutral and serves well for productivity on the go. The keyboard has dedicated paging keys plus a good layout, and the trackpad doubles as a touch-sensitive number pad. You get full-sized USB and HDMI ports plus two Thunderbolt 3 Type-C ports, but no 3.5mm audio socket which is a controversial omission. The screen is non-reflective and the IR webcam is placed above it. Asus’ ErgoLift hinge raises the back of the lower deck for better airflow.
The ZenBook UX425JA runs relatively quiet. Performance is good, thanks to the 10th Gen Intel ‘Ice Lake’ CPU and fast PCIe SSD. You can get lots of work done, but don’t expect any games or heavy content creation software to run smoothly. Battery life is good but doesn’t quite match up to Asus’ claims. Overall, this is an expensive but competent ultraportable laptop.
