NFPA is looking for a passionate and pragmatic Senior Manager, Human Resources to partner as a trusted advisor and key influencer at our organization, setting the strategy for talent management and total rewards at NFPA! With an emphasis on attracting, motivating, and positioning our talent for success, the Senior Manager, Human Resources will work closely with employees and managers at all levels of the organization to coach and provide guidance on activities that shape culture and drive employee engagement, performance, and development. As NFPA continues to expand our dispersed (remote-first) workforce, the Senior Manager, Human Resources will also have overall responsibility for compliance with employment laws and regulations and recommendations for best practices in employment policies and procedures. Job Responsibilities:
• Ensures effective talent management including recruitment, assessment, and development as the organization grows. Partners with Learning & Development to assist managers with assessing and identifying resources to meet employee/departmental training needs and supporting employees to continuously develop their skills in their field of work.
• Analyzes trends in total rewards. Researches, proposes, and implements strategy for competitive benefits and compensation (base and incentive pay programs) to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
• Counsels and/or coaches employees and managers regarding employee relations issues including performance management, facilitation of formal/informal complaints to resolution, discipline and/or exits in line with culture and the business and legal environment.
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. ( i.e. FMLA, ADA, EEO, I-9, LOA’s, etc.)
• Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
• Leads and assists with audits as necessary ( i.e. compensation and benefits related, etc.)
• Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the HR department and services performed.
• Updates management on policies/processes as necessary
• Provides data analysis and metrics to support the implementation of tools necessary to achieve key milestones and help drive strategy, including improvement of performance, retention, and the employee experience.
• Acts as a change agent and helps lead key change management initiatives for the business. Partners with Head of HR and Business Leaders to oversee and provide guidance on activities that shape culture and drive employee engagement.
• In collaboration with the Head of HR, supports the design, development, and execution of critical HR initiatives and projects (Performance Management, Organizational Design, Workforce Planning and Development)
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review, update, and communicate changes to policies and practices to maintain compliance as necessary.
• Develops the skills of HR professionals: Guides the development of new HR competencies required for effectiveness in a rapidly changing business model including serving as a culture and change steward and capable talent management advisor, to think strategically, to coach and influence, and to be a business ally solving problems with a sense of urgency.
• Leads, develops and manages direct reports by setting clear goals and expectations and by committing to managing for performance excellence.

Requirements:
• 8-10 years of relevant experience and demonstrated expertise in recruitment, talent review and management, total rewards (health and welfare benefits & compensation), compliance, change management, and in a developing high performance work culture.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in HR, business, or any related discipline
• SHRM/HRCI certification a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Established track record of driving & delivering results. Possess deep knowledge of HR Best Practices.
• Experience with self-insured benefit plans a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of best-in-class, competitive market and incentive-based compensation programs
• Experience with the implementation and management of day to day HRIS operations (Paylocity HRIS experience a plus!)
• Predictive Index certification preferred or equivalent experience with motivation and engagement assessments and practices.
• Proven track record as a strong partner to the business, providing effective coaching to leaders, managers and direct reports to optimize their capabilities by providing feedback, advice and suggestions to ensure success.
• Strong management skills and demonstrated knowledge of employment law, compliance, and policy development and implementation.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal, to support all levels of the organization.
• Possess the ability to facilitate meetings and training sessions.
• Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and responding to changing business conditions.
Travel Required – 10%
Position is remote with a preference for local candidate (MA)
