Job Description
Job Overview: The Program Officer, R&P Training supports the overall management and implementation of the Reception & Placement (R&P) Program with an emphasis on training and technical assistance to enhance early resettlement program activities, notably Cultural Orientation (CO). The Program Officer, R&P Training works closely with the Senior Program Officer for R&P, the larger HQ R&P and resettlement teams, and Resettlement, Asylum and Integration (RAI) US local offices where R&P is implemented. The Program Officer, R&P Training also works with the Senior Director for RAI to support the quality of CO delivery at the IRC Resettlement Support Center (RSC) in Asia. The Program Officer, R&P Training reports to the Senior Program Officer for R&P within the RAI Department. The main objective of this position is to work in partnership with local IRC stakeholders to ensure staff have the knowledge and skills to deliver high quality R&P services – including cultural orientation – while also supporting the enhancement of CO at RSC Asia.
Major Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and deliver trainings related to R&P program quality and cultural orientation, including webinars, self-paced e-learning, online courses, etc.
- Collaborate with local offices to implement national Cultural Orientation (CO) standards by developing action plans to improve CO delivery and providing individualized technical assistance. Monitor progress toward goals.
- Provide consultation, guidance, and recommended training resources in response to R&P questions and technical assistance requests. Manage and update R&P training materials as needed.
· Lead content planning and logistics for IRC’s national conference and smaller training series.
· Support RSC Cultural Orientation implementation including monitoring activities and new initiatives.
· Support compliance with donor requirements including but not limited to monitoring of local programs, auditing of Cultural Orientation delivery, and submission of grants management documents related to training.
· Serve as a lead monitor for the R&P program to conduct remote and onsite monitoring of local offices’ R&P programming, assessing for adherence to donor regulations and IRC policies to ensure high quality services and providing targeted technical assistance as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field of study preferred.
Work Experience:
- Relevant professional experience in human services field required; minimum of three years’ experience in delivering cultural orientation and/or R&P services strongly preferred.
Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:
- Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Familiarity with adult learning principles and experience delivering remote and/or in-person training preferred
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group is desired.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
Working Environment:
- A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
- Occasional domestic (non-local) travel required; up to 250%.
- May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
