REMOTE POSITION

Program & Job Overview: Implemented by the IRC, the Cultural Orientation Resource Exchange (CORE) is a technical assistance program that connects and supports refugee resettlement staff globally to deliver effective Cultural Orientation (CO) which helps refugees achieve self-sufficiency in the United States. As part of this work, CORE hosts and manages the CORE website and a learning platform. CORE is funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration.

The Virtual Events Manager will report to the Refugee Information Officer and work in coordination with other CORE staff in support of CORE’s refugee-facing live events and cultural orientation learning series hosted and integrated into CORE’s Settle In platforms (website, app, and social media).

Major Responsibilities:

· Manage and implement virtual Cultural Orientation learning series about Cultural Orientation topics for the national audience (Examples: Employment, Housing, Education, Money Management, Health), including script writing, coordination with consultants, and production

· Support continued development and broadcasts of Live Events for Settle In Facebook pages for Afghans and Ukrainians, including coordinating guest speakers and Senior Digital Community Liaisons

· Write social media posts to promote online events for refugees and coordinate with Digital Content Manager

· Create supporting materials to promote to resettlement staff, community partners, and volunteers how to use Settle In events in their support of newcomers

· Collect and analyze as-needed monitoring and evaluation data on virtual events hosted for refugees

· Support Senior Digital Communications Officer and Refugee Information Officer in implementing digital platform strategies to grow engagement with Settle In products;

  • Collaborate with other CORE staff to ensure maximum visibility and integration of all new CORE resources;
  • Represent CORE at meetings, internal and external workshops and conferences, and other events, as needed;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, learning design, international development, communications, or a related field required;
  • Minimum 1-3 years related work experience, preferably in refugee resettlement and delivery of Cultural Orientation programming;
  • Experience working writing content for websites or social media platforms, especially Facebook, and cultural use of these platforms.
  • Demonstrated command of PowerPoint, Zoom, and online learning platforms or programs, with the ability to learn new technologies quickly;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and partners;
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines;
  • Strong commitment to social service or humanitarian assistance programs and willingness to adhere to IRC’s code of conduct;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the US Refugee Admissions Program and Cultural Orientation programs preferred;
  • The ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines;
