Created in 1979, Action contre la Faim is a non-governmental organization that fights against hunger. Its charter of humanitarian principals- independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, free and direct access to victims, professionalism, transparency – has been part of its identity for more than 40 years. Its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of under-nutrition, particularly during and after emergency situations linked to conflicts or natural disasters. Action contre la Faim focuses its actions on 5 main areas of expertise: Nutrition and Health – Mental Health and Care Practices, Gender and Protection – Food Security and Livelihoods – Water, Sanitation and Hygiene – Advocacy. RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Regional HR Referent, you define and launch a national staff (approximately 20 employees) strategy. To bring psychological support to national collaborators in a war zone. To asses local resources for the continuation of the support
The challenges will be :
Defining a staff welfare strategy : defines a long term strategy for ACF’s staff wellbeing, assesses and anticipates long-term needs for psychological support, assesses the local resources in mental health to refer a collaborator when needed, assesses the need for a local recruitment or partnership with local psychologists or organizations, if need be, recruits and trains (a) local psychologist(s) for the continuation of the project. At the end of his/her assignment, the psychologist will prepare a written report in English on the outcome of trainings and capture of all the lessons learnt, referencing the output and impact based using the developed indicators, for further development of the skill in country and potentially replicable in other ACF country offices.
Creation and organization of stress management trainings for national collaborators : The psychologist develops and delivers a “staff wellbeing package” for all ACF staff working in Ukraine, Poland and Romania that supports them to maintain good physical and mental health, thereby protecting them from mental health difficulties and ensuring they can work optimally to support our beneficiaries.
The psychologist is responsible for designing the content of stress management trainings adjusted to local needs, sensitizing managers to stress management with their collaborators, organizing his/her planning for these trainings.
Support to the crisis management team and the victims in case of an incident : advises the crisis management team in case of an incident in order to prevent any additional stress to the teams, the victims and their families, trains manager to good managerial practices in case of an incident (trainings in defusing), provides immediate psychological support and follow-up to the direct and indirect victims.
Individual psychological support to the national collaborators asking for it : This activity is confidential and includes getting refer to local medical/psychological resources when required. Identifying local resources for mental health, in order to facilitate psychological care in case of future needs.
REQUESTED PROFILE
You hold a Master’s degree or PHD in clinical psychology; training in psychotherapy for trauma related disorders.
You have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience including working with traumatized and displaced populations.
– Experience in trainings organization
– Demonstrable understanding of the context and challenges in war contexts
– Experience with humanitarian organizations is appreciated.
Very good management of personal stress.
You are fluent in English (both written and spoken skills) (+ fluent in Ukrainian is preferred)
SPECIFIC CONDITIONS / SALARY
– 6 months fixed term contract under French or Ukrainian legislation
– Competitive remuneration according to ACF policies.
