SMX has an exciting opportunity for a talented Accounting Assistant seeking growth in a fast-paced environment. This position reports directly to General Ledger Manager. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial reports, cash activities, and general accounting support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of financial and statistical statements and reports
  • Prepare and maintain daily bank balances for management’s approval
  • Research and resolve discrepancies related to cash inquiries
  • Prepare bank reconciliation for clearing accounts
  • Enter daily cash receipt for management’s approval
  • Process vendor credit applications
  • Prepare sales and use tax
  • Assist with preparation of monthly adjusting and recurring journal entries
  • Perform general office support as requested
  • Assist with month-end activities as required
  • Monitor and distribute daily incoming mail as needed
  • Support various internal and external audits
  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience

  • Clearance: None
  • 1-2 years in accounting or related field
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong and effective communication, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills

Desired Experience

  • Self-starter with ability to learn and excel in fast-paced environment
  • Experience in Deltek Costpoint preferred
