Job Purpose:

In accordance with WHI policies, accounting standards and regulations, the Accounting Manager will maintain the accuracy of the general ledger, perform transaction imports as well as manage accounts payable and payroll. They will also prepare financial reports and perform analysis. In addition, the Accounting Manager will provide support with general accounting duties, annual budgeting, grant management/compliance, annual audits and compliance reporting. This position requires strong computer/technical skills, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, careful attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management, domestic staff, international staff, and outside clients and vendors.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage Cash Flow report and work with Executive Team for cash flow forecasting
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of all asset and liability accounts
  • Prepare journal entries including depreciation, amortization, payroll, and non- donation deposits
  • Import field office transactions to the general ledger
  • Review accuracy of field office coding
  • Review and release field office bank reconciliations
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules
  • Review vendor invoices for accuracy and approval, prepare for payment processing, and record invoices and Wire/ACH payments into accounting system
  • Confirm accuracy of deposits and import contribution files
  • Maintain foreign office bank account information
  • Maintain timesheet software, review timesheets, and submit for payroll processing
  • Prepare and review payroll for accuracy, process payroll, and maintain payroll records.
  • Maintain pension records and prepare pension calculations
  • Import payroll and pension reports into accounting system
  • Maintain credit card software and review transactions for monthly imports. Import credit card details into accounting software.
  • Prepare annual budget templates, support offices in budgeting process, import budgets into accounting system, and management mid-year budget reviews/updates
  • Monitor GIK tracking software, reviewing supporting documents, and import GIK information into accounting system
  • Lead weekly finance call with field office finance teams
  • Provide support and training to field office finance teams
  • Assist the program staff by providing financial reports and budget analysis
  • Assist with grant management, compliance, reporting and budget review
  • Assist with annual audit, Form 990, FBAR, State Registrations and other filings
  • Maintain all W-9 records, prepare and process all annual 1099 forms
  • Maintain all Charitable Gift Annuity records, prepare and process all annual 1099-R forms
  • Perform in a manner that respects confidentiality and preserves the supervisor’s full confidence
  • Assure discreet handling of all business
  • Actively support and represent the values, mission and purpose(s) of WHI in conduct and communications
  • Proactively raise any conflicting/incompatible job expectations or requests with the Chief Financial Officer and cooperatively participates in their resolution

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 3+ of experience required in NGO accounting
  • Prior experience working with federal grants
  • Knowledge of OMB and GAAP standards
  • Must be highly proficient in Excel with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of applications (Office 365, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Working knowledge of Acumatica accounting software
  • Working knowledge of Bank of America’s online banking and Global Pay credit card system
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communications skills, oral and written
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, complex, decentralized and geographically diverse organizational structure
  • Must be able to travel internationally (1-2 times per year as needed)

Working Environment / Conditions:

Standard office environment. Hybrid and remote work schedule possible. Limited domestic and international travel required (1-2 times per year as needed).

Salary: $72,000-92,000
