Olive Branch

The advocacy Officer will be hired as an employee of Olive Branch, with a fixed-term contract towards completion of the project described above will work closely with the Strategy Lead in Olive Branch, and under the overall coordination by PMU and the Advocacy Department,

Key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  1. Develop, implement, and regularly revise an advocacy strategy, action plan and policy briefs, focused on delivering the agreed project’s objectives.,
  2. Provide advice and expertise to the project on a range of advocacy and outreach issues, methods, and approaches.
  3. Anticipate and resolve communications and public relations issues or problems.
  4. Create, cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key official humanitarian actors and civil society actors in Türkiye,
  5. Following up on all relevant communication with Turkish official actors, such as approvals from governorates, ministries, AFAD, DGMM, to be able to implement the project for the benefit of beneficiaries in Türkiye,
  6. Minimize risk to Olive Branch as an organization by proactively identifying and resolving problems before they arise in all issues that are related to coordinating Olive Branch project and activities with relevant Government of Türkiye ministries and officials
  7. Work closely with all Olive Branch’s and partners’ key project staff in order to support their work and to ensure that all implemented activities are well-coordinated with relevant Government of Türkiye ministries and officials
  8. Identifying the relevant decision makers and other opinion leaders and understanding the decision-making processes.
  9. Coordinate and liaise with Advocacy Department of the lead organisation, Olive Branch project officers, and Human Rights Expert, regarding outreach and advocacy activities.
  10. Coordinate and arrange meetings for project key personnel and take a lead in higher-level visits.
  11. Advise project managers on taking strategic positioning in regard to relationships with authorities.
  12. Follow key policies developments
  13. Ensure the project’s key messages are consistently presented to and discussed with relevant government authorities, or any relevant bodies.
  14. When tasked by project manager, act as a spokesperson for the Project
  15. Report on all tasks and responsibilities using tools provided by Olive Branch.
  16. Report on evolving needs in the CSO community, and trends among targeted CSOs relevant to project implementation.
  17. Participate in M&E activities for impact measurement assessment when applicable (surveys, interviews, CSO mapping, etc.)
  18. Perform other related tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Degree in politics, law, international relations, business management, sociology or related field of study
  2. Experience in humanitarian sector working on advocacy with refugee-led grass-root organisations
  3. Familiarity with Turkish government, non-governmental and international institutions (work experience with government institutions is an asset)
  4. Able to communicate fluently in Turkish and English (Arabic will be assets)
  5. Able to use office programs
  6. Turkish Citizenship

  8. Document drafting, effective listening, media skills, information management (finding,
    validating, and contextualising information and the evidence base necessary for successful diplomacy)
  9. Knowledge of protocol and etiquette

Remuneration:

Salary will be payable on a monthly basis. Salary matches qualifications and market rate. The unit value will be Gross salary which includes Tax, Social Security, Health Insurance and Stamp Duty as per Turkish law. Olive Branch does not foresee any rise in the rate during the project’s implementation period.
