Due to a recent promotion, we are recruiting for an Assistant Repairs and Maintenance Manager (Gas) to join the Property team, based from our Doxford Park, Sunderland head office. In this role you will assist the Repairs & Maintenance Manager (Gas) to provide, plan and coordinate in house colleagues and external contractors to deliver an effective and comprehensive management of Gentoo’s statutory, regulatory and compliance responsibilities to designated areas of testing and maintenance of a range of gas, solid fuel installations to domestic and non-domestic properties. You will ensure that all service, repairs, testing and inspection carried out, all follow on work is tracked, completed and recorded with certification validated, update and communicated to the data team

The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo.

What We Are Looking For

What we are looking for:

You will hold a full UK Driving License

Qualifications Required

Indentured apprenticeship in gas engineering, heating/plumbing or mechanical services or NVQ level 2 or equivalent

Core gas Qualifications CCN1 and specialist subjects plus competency qualification for unvented hot water & solar thermal systems

Commercial Gas Competency Qualifications (or Willing To Achieve)

Fully qualified (or willing to achieve) to manage contracts in line with current CDM Regulations e.g. SMSTS

Experience Required

Experience in supporting the management of workloads to deliver objectives to required timescales and deadlines

Experience in the management of contractors’/in-house performance and health and safety on all projects and demonstrating excellent negotiation and challenge skills to resolve any issues

Fully experienced in all gas/mechanical installation types and equipment in domestic and non-domestic properties including renewable technologies and associated servicing regimes

Experience in gas, heating appliances and plumbing installations in a domestic and commercial environment.

Experience in gas appliance servicing, repair and installation procedures.

Extensive knowledge of gas appliances, heating installations in domestic and non-domestic premises including fully pumped systems, back boilers, combination boilers, biomass, solid fuel and condensing appliances.

Knowledge and understanding of water legislation and guidance material (HSE ACoP L8, Water Regulations & Building Regulations Part G)

Knowledge of CDM (Construction Design Management) Regulations and other related housing regulations/law and how to apply them so contractors/staff are effectively managed within the context of statutory health and safety compliance

Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and customers

Ability in supporting the motivation of a team to achieve performance targets
