The Christian Health Association of Kenya, (CHAK) is a national faith-based organization of the Protestant Churches’ health institutions and programs in Kenya. CHAK was established in 1946 and is dedicated to promoting universal access to quality health care and purposed to promote access to quality health care by facilitating accessible, comprehensive, quality health services to the people of Kenya in accordance with Christian values, professional ethics and national health sector policies. Our health programs have undergone a steady and progressive growth trajectory over the last 10 years positioning CHAK as one of the major health service delivery and program implementors in Kenya.

CHAK is seeking to recruit a technically sound and experienced person to support her business and proposal development portfolio to ensure continued, well managed, resourced and guided programs growth.

The Position:

CHAK is looking for strategic-thinking, analytic, and multi-donor-grounded Business and Proposal Development lead to oversee fast-paced business and project development program to support the CHAK program resources and funding base for growth. The incumbent shall have experience in donor relationships, international and local partner consortia management and with grounded expertise and hands on experience in the development and writing of large complex multi-year donor proposals as well as high value small and medium business proposals addressing strategic program and health priorities in Kenya and globally**.** Experience in proposal and business development and programmatic interaction with key donor, including USAID, FCDO, JICA, EU, GIZ, Irish Aid, SIDA, NORAD, Global affairs Canada (GAC) among others is critical.

Reporting Line: This position will report directly to the Head of Programming Department.

Duty Station: This position is domiciled at the CHAK secretariat in Nairobi**.**

Duties/Responsibilities:

The Business and Proposal Development Lead will be tasked with the enhancement and maintenance of strategically tailored business intelligence platform for CHAK while cultivating a strong relationship to maintain strong ties with our traditional and non-traditional donors. He will take responsibility for the identification of notices of funding opportunity (NOFO) that are strategically aligned to CHAKs program directions, review and analyze them to ensure donor requirements are understood and due attention.

The incumbent shall serve as the technical proposal writer for the identified NOFO, under the guidance of the Head of Programs, and collaborate with Finance, MEAL, Communication and other lead contributors to produce compelling proposal content with the highest possibility of success.

He will collaborate with Knowledge Management staff and technical teams to produce thematic capability statements and program past performance references and develop materials for engaging with donors and potential consortia members during oral presentations and co-creation activities.

The role will maintain a database of critical documents required for proposal submissions and ensure developed proposal are systematically archived and easily retrieved from CHAKs Center’s Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) for reference. He will be also tasked with administrative support to the business/proposal development team, including consultants where applicable to ensure efficient and effective proposal development processes and activities.

Qualifications,

a) Bachelors in Public health, or Clinical disciplines

b) Master’s in public health, Health Economics or another related field.

Skills, and Experience

a) Minimum eight (8) years in civil society and public health programing work.

b) Minimum 5 years’ experience of successful business and prorsal writing development

c) Demonstrated knowledge of business information systems including electronic data management systems.

d) Demonstrable ability to synthesize large amounts of information into a compelling and compliant narrative.

e) Demonstrated record of writing successful proposals for a minimum of five (5) year period.

f) Strong time management and organization skills, with ability to independently schedule and prioritize multiple tasks

g) Demonstrated proposal development and organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail.

h) Strategic and innovative (out of the box) thinker with proven ability to communicate a vision.

i) Excellent IT, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate complex ideas in simple ordinary language.
