In this role, you will:

  • Perform all light duty cleaning in all areas of the facility, project cleaning, general cleaning and keep cleaning equipment clean and good repair all the time.
  • Light duty cleaning includes: dust, sweep and wash of floors, vacuums carpets and upholstery, cleans lockers, counter tops, railings, mirrors, glazing and windows, cardio and strength equipment in conditioning room, Cyclefit room and free weight room, Swimming pool areas, staff offices, back of house areas and facility exterior.
  • Clean washrooms including; toilets, urinals, washbasins, vanities, replenishes toiletry, body soap, removes garbage from various areas and disposes into the bin.
  • Perform laundry related duties, including collection and laundering of rags, dust mops, mop heads and other items as required.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants, property and self by following established Workplace Health and Safety practices and procedures.
  • Provide a high standard of customer service to all participants as per SAM standards and other guidelines set from time to time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

You bring:

  • Cleaning experience in a commercial establishment
  • Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers; excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
  • Flexibility regarding assigned work schedule, including days, evenings and weekends
  • WHIMIS training an asset
  • Demonstrates and promotes a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision, strategic outcomes and values of the YMCA
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
