Organizational Context
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is a ministry of the Society of Jesus, acting as an international non-governmental organisation with a mission to accompany, serve, and advocate for the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. The organisation was founded in November 1980 and now has a presence in 57 countries. JRS undertakes services at national and regional levels with the support and guidance of an international office (IO) in Rome.
The style of JRS service is human and spiritual, working in situations of greatest need, seeking the long-term well-being of refugees and displaced people while not neglecting their immediate or urgent needs. The main services provided are in the field of education, reconciliation, livelihood activities and psychosocial support. Currently, almost 1 million individuals are direct beneficiaries of JRS projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance of the international website in three languages, uploading new content regularly and ensuring information is up to date
- Assist with gathering and producing content, including testimonies, news articles, copy for webpages, visual content and marketing collaterals
- Liaise with the translators to ensure timely translations of content in Spanish and French
- Assist in the management of social media channels, also ensuring that messages and inquiries receive a reply or are redirected to the appropriate person
- Prepare news brief for internal circulation
- Assist in the research and implementation of best practices for social media, copy editing, organizational branding and other policies
- Assist in filing and archiving JRS content
- Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor
Required Competencies
- University degree in Communications, Journalism, International Development, Political Sciences or in a related field
- Excellent command of written and verbal English and outstanding storytelling, writing, and editing skills
- Experience with graphic content creation and image/video editing software
- Experience in managing social mediaProficiency in Microsoft Office 365
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multi-cultural, international, professional environment
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of French, Italian and/or Spanish
- Knowledge of WordPress CMS
- Knowledge of SEO writing

Terms and Conditions
Please note that this position is only open to candidates who possess EU citizenship or other legal authorization to work in the European Union.
Successful candidates will be offered a regular contract under Italian law.
