Mercy Corps

Background:

Mercy Corps is a leading global organization powered by the belief that a better world is possible. In disaster, in hardship, in more than 40 countries around the world, we partner to put bold solutions into action — helping people triumph over adversity and build stronger communities from within.

Purpose / Project Description:

The Apolou team conducted a Community Accountability Reporting Mechanism (CARM) system evaluation to assess the effectiveness of community feedback channels on their project. The draft report is ready, and the team would like a graphic designer to incorporate it into the MC templates with tailored graphics ensuring correct branding. The final products will be used to share learnings across MC globally and within the broader CARM community of practice. The communication or graphics will need to communicate in simple terms the journey throughout system development, challenges, and recommendations. This should be easy to interpret and appealing to the audience.

Audience:

The primary audience for this activity includes:

  • Mercy Corps team members globally
  • Local stakeholders
  • International community of practice

Background & Relevant Documents:

Apolou Activity is a USAID BHA initiative that has directly reached 264,398 participants in the districts of Karenga, Kaabong, Kotido, Moroto, and Amudat in the Karamoja sub-region of Uganda. The main goal of the activity is to improve the food and nutrition security of vulnerable households. Apolou envisions a well-nourished, and empowered Karamoja, equipped to navigate the shifting dynamics within society, overcome gender and age-related systemic inequalities, and withstand shocks and stresses. This is accomplished by structuring activities under four interwoven purposes: governance, maternal and child health, WASH, and livelihoods. Globally, Mercy Corps has a CARM policy which requires teams to ensure the safety, security, and empowerment of program participants.

Consultant Deliverables:

We are looking for a graphic designer to incorporate the evaluation report into MC branded templates with creative visuals and graphics while also generating 2-3 graphics, ensuring correct branding. The creative designer should have knowledge of Mercy Corps culture and programming, good knowledge of the English language and good graphic design skills.

  • Word format evaluation report and brief
  • PowerPoint slide deck
  • Hi-res graphics in JPEG or similar format
  • The files will be stored in the Country Google Drive and Digital Library

There will be a 1-day dissemination event on key findings and recommendations to selected Mercy Corps and partner staff. This event will focus on the key learnings, findings, and recommendations from the CARM system evaluation. The final report will then be shared with the rest of the Mercy Corps Uganda team and the global team once approved. The CARM team (Apolou CARM Officer and Senior CARM Officer) will lead this dissemination session. Once disseminated internally, it will be shared across the broader community of practice.
