About MAG:

MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.

About the Angola programme:

MAG has been active in Angola for more than 20 years, clearing landmines and other explosive remnants of war. The programme currently operates in the east of Angola in Moxico, Lunda Sul and Lunda Norte provinces. Landmine clearance operations are focussed in Moxico, some of the poorest and most marginalised communities in the country. Our focus is to improve the security and wellbeing of these communities by returning safe land for productive use. We also deliver Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) projects. We are seeking to recruit a Country Director, based in Luena with frequent travel to Luanda, to lead MAG’s programme.

This senior role will provide you with the opportunity to use your people management skills, leading a large team of staff operating across a varied environment. You will also have the opportunity to use your skills in stakeholder management, to take a leading role in donor development, identifying funding opportunities in a demanding donor environment.

About you:

You will have extensive experience working overseas at a senior management level in large-scale humanitarian or development programmes. It is essential that you have strong programme and people management skills, with experience of managing large scale, multi-year projects, ideally from project design through to contract delivery.
