**Job Overview:**Implemented by the IRC, the Cultural Orientation Resource Exchange (CORE) is a technical assistance program that connects and supports refugee resettlement staff globally to deliver effective Cultural Orientation (CO), which helps refugees achieve self-sufficiency in the United States. As part of this work, CORE develops resources, provides training, and manages a website for providers. Additionally, CORE provides digital platforms and information services for newcomers through Settle In.
The Curriculum Design Officer will report to CORE’s Deputy Director and work in coordination with other CORE staff to advance CORE’s programmatic objectives. This position will be responsible for the creation of a flexible and user-friendly domestic Cultural Orientation curriculum, including presentation materials, facilitator guides, and best teaching practices. The Curriculum Design Officer will work closely with other CORE staff to ensure the integration of other CORE resources and products. As a part of this work, the Curriculum Design Officer will provide training on how to use the curriculum and accompanying resources.
Major Responsibilities:
· Lead the research, development, organization, testing, and dissemination of a multilingual domestic Cultural Orientation curriculum and supplemental materials;
· Manage training strategy for the rollout of updated Cultural Orientation curriculum to a national audience, ensuring maximum reach and user uptake;
· Apply best practices in adult education pedagogy and incorporate field staff and refugee needs in the development and iteration of the Cultural Orientation curriculum;
· Establish a framework for future updates to the curriculum with attention to efficiency and agility;
· Coordinate with external vendors and consultants as needed for the production of curriculum and training resources (such as videos and other multimedia products);
· Collaborate with other CORE staff to ensure maximum visibility and integration of all new CORE resources;
· Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
· Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field;
· 3+ years of demonstrated experience in curriculum development, including scoping and sequencing of large topics
· Experience designing education and training programs for diverse populations
· Demonstrated experience creating engaging and learner-centered presentation materials
· Deep and demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles and how to incorporate them into learning materials
· Demonstrated knowledge of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program and Cultural Orientation programs;
· Experience teaching in a classroom or virtual setting;
· Experience delivering Cultural Orientation preferred;
· Strong writing skills including the ability to develop coherent, engaging, grammatically correct written documents and training resources for a wide variety of audiences;
· Demonstrated command of PowerPoint, Zoom, and other online platforms
· Excellent oral communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and partners, facilitate webinars and workshops, and present at professional meetings;
· Solid organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines;
· Flexibility and an understanding of resource creation as an iterative process;
· Detail orientated and self-directed.
