About the role
Are you passionate about helping donors to leave a lasting legacy that will make a significant difference to students, leading research teams and communities in the years to come?
We are currently growing the Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) and an excellent opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and ambitious community as a valued member of the Philanthropy team. The post holder will play an important role in the team’s continued success, with significant opportunity to strategically develop and lead the legacy giving programme at the University.
This is an exciting time to join the University of Leicester, as we embark on our second centenary and our new strategy, with an inspirational Vice-Chancellor who understands the importance and power of philanthropy and engagement. Our new Director of Development and Alumni Relations has also recently joined us.
The team has enjoyed considerable success in recent years; 2021-22 has been a record year for legacy income, as well as our second highest ever philanthropic income total. With a number of game-changing projects in the pipeline, there are exciting opportunities to continue delivering vital support across the institution. You will play a crucial role by working collaboratively to manage incoming legacy bequests, provide specialist guidance to development colleagues, and proactively develop awareness of legacy giving, leading to future growth in legacy income.
About you
You will have exceptional communication and administrative skills, and the necessary experience to manage a programme. We are looking for someone who is collaborative, enjoys both process-driven tasks and relationship building, and who can share in the team’s success. You will have excellent organisational skills, and bring a considered, solution-focused approach to opportunities and challenges. You must have a strong understanding of the practice and principles of legacy giving, and an empathetic approach to engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
