Here’s where you come in:
As the Director, Credit Scoring, VisionFund International, you are to establish credit scoring in its MFIs, and once implemented, conduct the ongoing score management (annual validation and calibration and evaluation as well as monthly monitoring) to ensure that the scores continue to be predictive, delivering the stated risk appetite.
VisionFund has established a strong business case for using statistical credit scoring for loan decisions, utilizing the wealth of data available about our clients. VisionFund has established the project and selected the vendor to build the application and behavioural scorecard with decisioning engine. Through this position, VisionFund is seeking to develop the in-house expertise for statistics and modelling, to enable VisionFund to establish credit scoring in its MFIs, and once implemented, conduct the ongoing score management (annual validation and calibration and evaluation as well as monthly monitoring) to ensure that the scores continue to be predictive, delivering the stated risk appetite.
Required qualifications and experience
- At least 10+ years of experience in statistical modelling / data analysis preferably in the financial industry/risk management
- Bachelors’ degree in statistics and modelling or similar.
- Statistical modelling / data analysis experience including data manipulation practice (R, Python, SAS or similar tools)
- Credit decision strategy and policy setting skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to gather and analyze business requirements
- Strong communication and presentation skills needed to present both internal stakeholders and to our clients
- Project management experience – a proven track record in leading projects and managing complex analytical projects
- Effective in written and verbal communication in English
Preferred
- A masters’ degree in finance, economics or statistics is an added advantage.
- Experience managing statistical credit scores
- 2+ years’ experience in regional or global roles in microfinance (in multiple MFIs) in a leadership capacity
- Experience living and working cross culturally
- Spanish language skills, to advanced/business level.
- Knowledge of SQL is an advantage
