Background

FHI 360 is a non-profit human development organization dedicated to improving lives in lasting ways
by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions. Our staff includes experts in health, education,
nutrition, environment, economic development, civil society, gender, youth, research, technology,
communication, and social marketing- creating a unique mix of capabilities to address today’s
interrelated development challenges. FHI 360 serves more than 70 countries and all U.S. states and
territories. We are currently seeking a qualified consultant with English skill who have experience in developing content to increase accessibility access for blind and low vision people for the U.S. Department of State: Partnerships for Business Resilience and Recovery in Southeast Asia Project (PBRR)

Scope of Work

The selected consultant will be required to work independently, with project-related guidance from PBRR team, to develop PowerPoint function to the ~250 page Business Resilience Toolkit that ensures accessibility on the toolkit in blind and low vision audiences. The Scope of Work (SOW) may include, but not limited to, the following deliverables:

  1. Prepare alternative (alt) text:
    • Identify visual content (e.g., non-text objects, graphs/ charts)
    • Add short and reflective Alt texts in English into the PowerPoint file to explain the identified content to ensure accessibility for blind and low vision people whose primary language is English.
    • Set up PowerPoint object order to reflect appropriate reading order by reading applications
  2. Develop “How to” instructions for users reader apps to access the alt text in different devices (e.g., computer-based devices, smartphone) and operating systems (OS) (e.g., Microsoft Windows, macOS, Android, iOS)

Location of Work

Not limited. The consultant will work 100% remotely, receiving guidance from the FHI 360 project team based in Bangkok, Thailand. The consultant may be asked to communicate with the project occasionally either morning or evening Thailand time.
