Educational Liaison – Bilingual Required

Academic Req:

Required – Bachelor’s or undergraduate degree from an accredited program/ university, preferably in one of the following areas: Education, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or related field of study;

Preferred – Graduate degree from accredited program/university in a related field

Certifications:

First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention

Work experience:

Required – One (1) year of related experience and/or training including experience working in Education and with public school structure;

Preferred – Experience in working with immigrant populations, and child welfare

Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:

  • Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.
  • Participate in workshops, seminars, education programs and other activities that promote professional growth and development.
  • Maintain a minimum number of weekly contacts with students, school administrators, teachers, and other school officials.
  • Continually assess ongoing changes in behavior, circumstances or conditions that may affect child safety and education.
  • Engage and involve students and their sponsors in the educational process.
  • Document progress that students and their family/sponsors make toward graduation, achievement of education goals and positive educational outcomes.
  • Compile, prepare, submit, and maintain accurate records, files, forms, statistics and additional information in accordance with agency policies, licensing and/or contract requirements
  • Participate in weekly case staffing with program director, case managers, clinicians, and supervisory staff.
  • Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by supervisor.
  • Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
  • Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Complete enrollment and withdrawal of students, as needed.
  • Maintain all educational data for the program, including gathering and storing/documenting educational information for all minors.
  • Use relevant technology, as well as a variety of strategies, to support students.
  • Provide meaningful feedback on student work.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students; use assessment data to inform future instruction, both in class and with tutor.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development; update records to ensure compliance with policies and standards.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Communicate information regarding student progress and needs to all stakeholders, including minor, program staff, and managing conservator. Act as liaison between Compass Connections and the school staff.
  • Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for all activities; provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations.
  • Coordinate referrals, service planning and documentation of services for assigned caseload.
  • Act as a liaison with public schools, school districts, and other community educational programs, as well as with stakeholders, including legal providers and immigration court.
  • Participate in weekly face to face or phone supervision with the supervisor.
  • Frequently travel from one location to another within the city.
  • Meet all deadlines required by program supervisor and federal partners.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.

Requirements:

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
  • Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to:
  • Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.
  • Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
  • Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
  • Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.
