DRC Greece is looking to recruit a qualified, flexible and enthusiastic professional to work in North Greece as Employability Support Officer. Under the overall supervision of the Education/Integration Manager and with the technical guidance from Urban/Integration Coordinator, the Employability Support Officer will support and overseen the implementation of Skills Development and Employability activities and services for migrants and refugees accommodated in Open Accommodation site(s) in North Greece. The Employability Support Officer will ensure that all Skills Development and Employability activities are high quality and in line with PoCs’ needs

The Employability Support Officer’s responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

Implementation and design of Skills Development and Employability activities:

  • Oversee the implementation of Skills Development and Employability activities, ensuring that activities are on schedule and that program deliverables are completed as planned.
  • Support the implementation of job orientation and job preparedness sessions and workshops.
  • Collaborate closely with other staff members of the team to enhance linkages between Skills Development and Employability activities.
  • Support the creation of targeted and customized curricula that target and address the skills development, lifelong learning and employability support needs of the PoC on sites.
  • Support in the selection and evaluation of training providers for vocational training.
  • Identify new partnerships with the private sector for the provision of training and Work-Based Learning (WBL) opportunities.
  • Conduct data collection on the local labor market and enter collected information on job vacancies, training opportunities and self-employment support programs into the database.
  • Provide a list of job vacancies and support PoC to apply.
  • Contribute to data collection tools, market and labor market assessments and mapping reports.
  • Ensure that all training-related interventions are in compliance with international standards, national laws and policies, technical standards and organizational policies.
  • Responsible for the filing and record keeping of employability activities.
  • In collaboration with the Skills Development officers and the support of the Cultural Mediator, provide information and guidance the PoC on key knowledge areas, including Job Search Techniques.
  • In collaboration with MEAL team, conduct field assessments. Make recommendations about the needs and vulnerabilities of the target populations in the program objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Education/Integration Manager and the other members of Skills Development and Employability team, design and implement relevant Skills Development and Lifelong Learning activities.
  • Support the integration of adapted approaches to respond to barriers to women and youth’s engagement in the labor market.
  • In collaboration with DRC Greece’s Protection team, facilitate inclusive access of asylum seekers to e-services provided by local authorities for all necessary administrative processes.
  • Support the other members of the team to map and provide information to PoC on available learning opportunities (both on-site and off-site), liaise with municipalities’ lifelong learning centers, and other non-formal and formal education structures and assist PoC with all the necessary processes to access them, including the issuance of administrative documents.
  • Promote empathy, compassion and respect for the gender, ethnic, religious, cultural, and learning diversity of PoC.

Implementation and design of Skills Development and Employability activities:

  • Ensure that relevant project data and Means of Verification (e.g. attendance lists, registration forms) are accurately collected.
  • Monitor and record beneficiaries’ attendance and progression, noting any areas for concern to the Education/Integration Manager.
  • Regularly monitor the progress of Skills Development & Employability activities against project plans and timelines.

Programme Development:

  • Suggest improvements to DRC programming and ways of working, through identification and communication of challenges, gaps, recommendations for improvements and lessons learnt.
  • In collaboration with the Skills Development & Employability team and the Education/Integration Manager contribute to the development and design of DRC’s Skills Development & Employability program and activities.

Accountability.

  • In day-to-day tasks ensure relevant accountability to internal DRC and Donor policies
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Education-Integration Manager and/or Area Manager relevant to the achievement of program’s objectives.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the line manager in line with overall response in the area of deployment.

About you

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in Employability Programmes or related sectors, which could include experience with some or all the following activities: -Engagement with the private sector and providing job placement. -Implementation of job orientation and job preparedness sessions workshops. -Proven ability to successfully implement economic recovery programming, including vocational training and work-based learning (WBL).Knowledge of the local labour market and livelihoods pathways for vulnerable individuals. -Conducting market assessments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, economics, business or in a related field (required).
  • English (Advanced verbal and written skills) (required)
  • Greek (Excellent verbal and written skills) (required)
  • Studies or training in career development or job counselling or livelihood planning will be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with local or international NGOs will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in Adults’ Education and/or Intercultural Education, in designing and facilitating skills development workshops and training sessions will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the refugee and migration issues in Greece, the systems, and processes in place to facilitate refugees’ access to services, education, health care, and social benefits will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong sense of initiative and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to humanitarian principles.
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn from others.
  • Ability to multitask and cope with multiple competing demands under tight deadlines.
