About Equal Measures 2030 (EM2030):

EM2030 is a collaboration of national, regional, and global leaders from feminist networks, civil society, international development, and the private sector. We connect data and evidence with advocacy and action on gender equality, to transform the lives of women and girls and realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It is more than 25 years since 189 countries committed to the Beijing Platform for Action by advancing women’s rights. And we have less than 10 years until the 2030 deadline for achieving the SDGs and their promise of gender equality.

But Equal Measures 2030’s SDG Gender Index shows that not a single country has yet achieved gender equality.

Our Strategic Plan 2020-2025 is founded on the belief that data can expose gender inequality and injustice, motivate change, and drive accountability. From 2020 to 2025, working with women and girls and across feminist organizations and movements, Equal Measures 2030 will catalyse change through data-driven advocacy aimed at holding governments and policymakers accountable.

Rapid change on gender equality is possible. Join us to help make it happen.

About this role:

This is a newly created position at EM2030 as the organization has entered a new phase of growth and maturity (including its recent transition to become a fiscally sponsored project of Panorama Global) and is actively working towards the vision, mission and objectives laid out in its 2020-2025 strategic plan. We have also recently (working with Impact Mapper) completed a formative evaluation of our work, which identified key opportunities and recommendations.

Our partnership (national, regional, and global leaders from feminist networks, civil society, international development and the private sector) is also keen to collectively measure of the impact of our data-driven advocacy work and contribute to the wider movement, making the case for funding the advocacy efforts of feminist organisations and movements.

The Evaluation, Learning and Impact Lead will play a vital role in ensuring that we are working towards our vision, mission and strategic objectives and will help us better communicate why and how data in the hands of feminist movements and organisations drives change for gender equality.

Reporting to the newly created position of Deputy Executive Director, Partnerships & Learning, the postholder will take forward our existing work on evaluation, learning and impact (including our recent formative evaluation study and our draft MEL Indicator Framework), help us to develop strategies, tools and approaches, and work with our team and partners to ensure that evaluation, learning and impact measurement are embedded throughout our work. This is an exciting time to get involved in our growing organization, and you’ll have the chance to work with our small, friendly, collaborative team as well as across networks of inspiring feminist organisations across the world on “outcome harvesting” and other approaches. With your expertise and leadership, we will be able to better articulate the impact of our Partnership’s collective work to advance gender equality.

We are looking for someone with proven experience, who both understands best practice in evaluating, learning from, and measuring the impact of advocacy and who can translate that into concrete processes and tools. You will help us to develop a culture of continuous assessment, learning and improvement to ensure our work is impactful. You must bring a deep understanding of and commitment to Feminist and Anti-Oppression values and principles and be ready to help us integrate these across our Evaluation, Learning and Impact strategy and practices. This role is hands on, flexible, responsive, and perfect for someone who would enjoy working with a small (but growing!), collaborative, Feminist, global team.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead on the development of EM2030’s first Evaluation, Learning and Impact strategy and roll-out of tools, approaches, and systems to measure our overall impact and progress towards the vision, mission and objectives laid out in our strategic plan
    • Compile, organize and draw insights from existing Evaluation, Learning and Impact documentation (including past evaluation reports, draft MEL indicator framework, donor reporting, partner reports and feedback, etc.)
    • Produce MEL systems, processes and tools
    • Advise on and help set up software solutions to support Evaluation, Learning and Impact as needed
    • Guide team and partners through use of systems, processes and tools
    • Contribute Evaluation, Learning and Impact expertise to our “Partnerships and Learning Reflection and Visioning” process, playing a key role in helping us to refresh our Partnership’s governance, operations, and approach to sub-granting
  • Support the Partnerships & Learning team, and other colleagues across EM2030, to collect data and stories about our Partnership’s activities, outputs, outcomes and impact
  • Create opportunities for shared learning with partners about Evaluation, Learning and Impact of advocacy work and create space to share and communicate about our collective impact
  • Lead on compiling inputs for grant reporting
  • Support the team with annual workplanning, ensuring alignment with our strategic plan and the embedding of Evaluation, Learning and Impact approaches
  • Identify, understand, track and report for different stakeholders’ needs for monitoring and impact data, including team members, partners, our Partnership Council, current and prospective funders, etc.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director, Head of Business Development, Head of Communications and other colleagues and partners to produce and gather data, evidence, and stories for EM2030’s first annual impact report and to improve the Impact section of our website.
  • Work closely with the Head of Communications, Head of Business Development and other colleagues to proactively develop a pipeline of “Impact Stories” to support communications and business development activities
  • Promote all aspects of Evaluation, Learning and Impact to support the creation of an organisational culture which prioritises impact.
  • Ensure that Evaluation, Learning and Impact are an integral part of all programme and proposal development processes.

Knowledge, skills, and/or experience you’ll need:

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience in the field of Evaluation, Learning and Impact with a flair for articulating the impact of advocacy and the work of social movements
  • Strong knowledge of evaluation and research methodologies and participatory evaluations
  • Strong verbal and written communications, skills with the ability to persuade and articulate results to a wide range of stakeholders (including institutional funders)
  • Ability to work independently and communicate well with remote-located team and partners
  • Experience of managing and prioritising a diverse workload and multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Nimble, flexible and creative working style
  • Demonstrated commitment to Feminist, Anti-Racist and Anti-Oppression values and principles, and to decolonising work in the International Development sector
  • Able to work remotely effectively, including across timezones, whilst managing work/life balance.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Desirable:

  • Experience working on Evaluation, Learning and Impact specifically with Feminist and/or social justice organisations
  • French and Spanish language skills

What we offer:

Our team is collaborative, friendly, flexible, and based in different countries all around the world.

We have been improving our remote working approaches, systems, and tools since our founding in 2017, and are committed to making EM2030 a great place to work no matter where in the world our team members are located. We are powered by our values and principles, not just in “what” we do but also in “how” we do it:

  • We are rigorous in our analysis and transparent about our methodology and approach
