Tetra Tech International Development (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev) is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a Human Wildlife Conflict Reduction Objective Leadposition on an anticipated five-year USAID-funded Somros Baitang activity in Cambodia. The purpose of this activity is to conserve biodiversity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from land use change in Cambodia. The Activity will work to fulfill this purpose through three potential complementary objectives: 1) Improve livelihoods development including community-based ecotourism; 2) explore the possibility of generating “blue carbon” credits for use by the coastal and riparian communities; and 3) reduce human wildlife conflict, snaring, and bushmeat consumption. The request for proposals is anticipated to be released in early in 2023, with project start-up activities expecting to begin in October 2023. This position will likely be based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The Human Wildlife Conflict Reduction Objective Lead will be responsible for overall supervision and implementation of activities under USAID Somros Baitang Objective 3. They will report to the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) and will work closely with the technical team members located in project headquarters to support high quality coordination and mentoring of technical staff in the Somros Baitang field offices.

Responsibilities:

*Lead activity planning, reporting, and monitoring, evaluation and learning for objective 3.

*Lead engagement with government, private sector, and other institutional partners in support of objective 3 priorities.

*Develop and/or review social behavior change and communications (SBCC) materials in collaboration with technical staff, including toolkits, manuals, documents and other resources, that are accessible, user-friendly, timely, and tailored to Cambodian target audiences and stakeholders.

*Advise on awareness-raising campaigns toward public, government, and relevant stakeholders including private sector and development partners;

*Identify best practices on human-wildlife conflict reduction and conservation, and support the Activity to convene dialogues, trainings, and other information exchange.

*Execute other tasks as assigned by the Chief of Party or Deputy Chief of Party. ​

Qualifications:

*Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in environmental science, natural resource management, biology, biodiversity conservation, wildlife management, or a related field with a preference for a Master’s degree.

*At least seven (7) years of professional experience in the field of biodiversity conservation, wildlife management, or behavior change communications.

* Demonstrated record of success and impacts leading implementation of activities in the areas of biodiversity conservation and/or human-wildlife conflict reduction.

*Demonstrated experience in supporting legislative and policy reforms in the areas of biodiversity conservation and/or human-wildlife conflict reduction.

*Demonstrated experience developing and deploying strategies to address training and capacity-building needs related to human-wildlife conflict reduction.

*Experience working on international donor-funded projects required; experience working with USAID projects preferred.

*Experience gathering input and perspectives from diverse stakeholders within government, NGOs, and communities, through interviews, focus groups, and other approaches is required.

*Experience and knowledge of the Cambodian conservation sector is preferred.

*Written and spoken fluency in English and Khmer.
