Jordan Media Institute

Who we are

Jordan Media Institute is a non-profit educational institution founded by Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali to enhance the performance of journalists and media practitioners in Jordan and the region. The institute, which provides professional education and training opportunities, offers its Arabic programs to raise the level of Arab media and provide foreign media outlets with professional Arabic-speaking journalists.

JMI also seeks to improve media output and build the profession’s reputation locally and across the Arab world through its Master’s in Journalism and New Media.

What we are looking for

Ambitious talents in research, communication, and planning who will support our team across its various ongoing projects. The potential tasks include:

· Desk and Field Research

· Proposal and Report Writing

· Communication with international and national stakeholders

The intern will support grant writing and assist our team in carrying out the grant acquisition process in line with the projects’ design, call for applications, etc. The intern will also contribute to the communications activities of JMI by developing project briefs, write-ups, announcements, social media posts, content, and media relations to ensure proper project visibility and community interactions.

In addition, as a member of the projects management team, the new intern will align project concepts, meet with donors, and discuss strategic issues to integrate JMI’s objectives from an academic and project perspective. Responsibilities will also include the provision of substantial support to finalize the JMI annual roadmap, work plan, KPIs, etc., in line with the donor’s requirements and JMI objectives. Translation of Arabic-English and vice-versa will be expected.

Along with learning how to work in a team environment, the intern will also deepen their knowledge about the internal functions of a prominent NGO and its dynamic role as an intermediary between international and domestic actors.

This is a 6-month unpaid internship.

Qualifications

On-going or completed Master’s degree in media, development, gender, international relations, public policy, economy, or relevant field within the scope of JMI.

· Fluent in English.

· Interest in the media field in the Middle East.

· Residing or willing to reside in Jordan.

· Technical writing skills.

· Advanced MS Office, specifically Excel and Word.

Important note: The internship will be in-person, based in Amman. JMI, unfortunately, does not cover any cost related to the internship.

The selected intern will start on February 2nd and until July 27th, 2023.
