ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Internews is seeking a Project Officer for a USAID-funded media support and civil society initiative with the general goal of further strengthening independent media and civil society in Jordan. The Project Officer provides administrative and technical support for projects under the supervision of the MENA Media Team Lead.

LOGISTICS

Internews has field offices in Jordan. Ultimately, this role will be based in Amman, Jordan. Wherever possible, we work to try to find solutions for international hiring that work for both the company and the candidate. This means that some of the particulars around the offer for a role will be dependent on several factors, and that the benefits and salary structure that apply to a position will ultimately be based upon the candidate’s location and where the role is hired.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:

  • Assist with project oversight and planning, including progress towards project deliverables
  • Assist in the review of partners’ narrative and financial reporting
  • Assist in preparation of key project documents (reports, subgrant agreements, internal documents): write, edit, proof, revise and assemble finished materials
  • Assist the project team with proposal development as needed
  • Carry out research as assigned and in support of ongoing projects and new initiatives
  • Track and manage personnel invoices, expense reimbursements, wire transfer requests and credit card reconciliation
  • Lead the implementation of personal service contracts and outside service contracts
  • Coordinate travel logistics, assist with visa applications, manage submission of expense reports
  • Assist with enforcement of procurement policy for purchase of equipment, software, and other products and services, for project teams as well as for project partners
  • Carry out research as assigned and in support of ongoing projects and new initiatives
  • Support the SAWT team in compiling and distributing project updates
  • Lead and support the implementation and coordination of project activities, events, and workshops
  • Develop and maintain the department stakeholders’ database (contacts database, etc.)
  • Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Required

  • Relevant university degree or equivalent lived/professional experience
  • 5+ years of relevant development experience, including internships and field experience
  • Fluency in English and Arabic
  • Ability to work in Jordan
  • Superior analytical skills and writing ability
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Proven organization skills, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize with a shifting workload
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a multicultural and remote work environment
  • Ability to travel to support meetings and conferences as needed
  • Experience with MS Office

Preferred

  • Practical skills in social media marketing skills for all three major Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)
  • Practical knowledge in managing and moderating Social Medi Platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
  • Familiarity with USAID and/or Department of State rules and regulations
