Job Title: Market Development Coordinator

Job Summary
The Market Development Coordinator ensures effective program implementation, delivery of market development strategies, and provides guidance on micro and small business enterprise development to smallholder farmers, savings/business groups, and registered cooperatives. This is accomplished through the facilitation of market assessments; the development of selling opportunities such as direct marketing and agritourism; strengthening of value chain and stakeholder linkages; and the provision of promotional support to the industry as a whole through various product/service awareness initiatives.
Principal Responsibilities
Technical Design & Strategy:
● Lead market systems analysis to identify sectors, subsectors or value chains with potential economic opportunities for target communities and also identify possible constraints and bottlenecks preventing engagement the identified sectors
● Design appropriate market development interventions and plans to create employment and or business opportunities for target communities;
● Analyze and disseminate detailed local, provincial, national, and international market information and trends to enable producers, farmers and other community entities link with agriproduce buyers and SMEs in lucrative markets;
● Facilitate provision of expert advice to enhance in direct marketing and value-adding activity development;
● Support producers and SMEs to receive the appropriate operational advice for increased enterprise productivity
Implementation and monitoring:
● Facilitate community-based market assessment to identify economic and skills development opportunities;
● Facilitate workshops, seminars, and training programs on market systems development for agriculture and agrifood producers, processors, and other stakeholders on strategic marketing and development, opportunities, and trends;
● Prepare comprehensive market research reports based on the compilation, sorting, and analysis of primary and secondary information sources;
● Design and produce brochures, labels, and packaging concepts, and design and develop display booths and material for exhibits;.
● Support the development of the sustainability strategy of mature entreprises for the smooth handover of market development activities;
● Contribute to market development activities so they are conducted as per plan and budget.
● Document case studies and most significant change stories;
● Facilitate coordination of program monitoring processes with M&E staff, partners and communities
Networking and Partnership Development:
● Strengthen linkages between farmers, farmers organizations, micro and small business owners, government agencies, microfinance Institutions (MFIs) and banks;
● Work with partners to assess the potential of initiatives, plan and design projects and programs to expand product or market opportunities;
● Collect industry information to identify market trends and regulations, track market information needs of clients, monitor clients’ ongoing market strategies, develop client profiles, and maintain client information databases.

Experience
● Minimum of 5 years experience of working in the market development sector, to include marketing, promotion and facilitation strategies and methods to grow and develop those industries;
● Related experience in private sector marketing and branding, finance/investment, business, agriculture and in understanding the realities of women entrepreneurs operating in local business context.
● Experience in facilitating or presenting at various workshops; promoting and selling products of ideas to diverse audiences;
● Familiarity with public and private accreditation processes relevant to supporting micro and small business entreprises;
● Experience in partnering with local government units or private sectors to work on and complete initiatives such as the development of activities for the markets;
● With strong analytical and written/oral communication skills;
● Ability to proofread, edit and format documents including marketing and promotional documents or proposals, reports, invitations, etc.
● Experience in conducting financial analysis of agro-enterprises is an advantage.
● Non-profit ministry/ International NGO experience is a plus.
Education/Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Marketing, Economics, Business Management, Business Administration or Commerce. Master’s degree is an advantage.
Language
Proficiency in spoken and written English and Philippine languages/dialect. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Supervisor Responsibilities
No direct supervisory function.
