MIYCN Counsellor (National Contract) – 14 positions
The MIYCN Counsellor with be responsible for carrying all the MIYCN activities such as one on one counselling , group counselling, food demonstrations as well as the formation and maintenance of the M2MSGs. The MIYCN Counsellor is also expected to maintain relevant starndard documentation and reporting on MIYCN activities. S/he will provide support on child feeding practices in women that require additional support or reveal difficulties. The role Holder will also provide tailored support during one to one counselling sessions, offering practical advice and education to mothers on the key issues of infant and young child feeding practices. The incumbent will ensure all mothers/care givers are aware of the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the initial 6 months. S/he will provide mothers with practical advice on correct attachment and positioning when breastfeeding, timely introduction of complementary foods and respond to any concerns or local taboos associated with MIYCN.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
In order to be successful, you will bring / have:
- Diploma in Nursing or Completed the Nursing assistant course / basic education of SS (Form four).
- Experience in running CMAM nutrition program, particularly MYICN for at least 2 years.
- Ability to cope and overcome work related challenges
- Good oral and written English language a necessity. Good understanding of the local Dinka and Arabic dialects is an added advantage.
- High flexibility and ability to work without close supervision
- Ability and willingness to take long hours walk in a community
- Strong team work skills
- Experience working with the local communities.
- Arabic or other local language a huge advantage.
Contract Duration: 5 Months
Location: Bor Field Office, South Sudan.
