This role is a member of the Global Partnerships and Philanthropic Services (GPPS) Unit, consisting of specialists across a variety of high-value (HV) fundraising functions providing all elements of cultivation, support and stewardship to donors, partners, and supporters, comprising three pillars: Research, Partner Engagement & Corporate Affairs, and Program Services. Program Services is GPPS’ largest pillar and works at the intersection of HV fundraising and our operations and programs in the field.
The IRC has an exciting opportunity within the Program Services, where you would be part of a team critical to the advancement of our aspirational high-value (HV) goals and vision.
Job Overview:
The Officer, Funding Proposition & Impact Reporting Services will develop funding proposals and impact reports to strengthen the HV teams and to increase IRC’s global fundraising and partnerships efforts. The Officer will be a core writer on the team who will become immersed in the organization’s programs and translate that content into unrestricted or restricted High-value, donor-centric language. We want to add your superb writing, communication skills, and experience to the IRC family!
Major Responsibilities:
- Transform programmatic content into sophisticated, compelling donor-friendly grant proposals, reports and communication materials
- Write funding propositions, concept notes, scripts, one-pagers, pitch decks or other assets in collaboration with fundraisers
- Create donor communications that are digestible, informative, timely and true to our messaging and brand
- Lead project completion, content collection and editorial timelines to finalize written assets across IRC teams
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal teams across the IRC – including teams in GPPS, Marketing & Mobilization, and various technical units
- Stay up to date on IRC programs, as well as global events and trends impacting the humanitarian sector, the places we work and the lives of our clients
Job Requirements:
Work Experience: Are you a creative and resourceful writer who knows how to translate complex topics into easy-to-understand content? We are looking for a candidate with 3- to 6- years of professional writing experience and a writing background supporting a nonprofit organization’s high value funding grants portfolio. Writing samples will be required.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
- Global and diverse experience writing successful proposals for (and reporting on) 6 and 7 figure+ grants for international private sector partners (such as companies and high net worth individuals)
- Skilled at developing technical information gathered from diverse international settings into strong, clean, compelling copy, with expertise in fact checking, line-editing and proofreading
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to serve as a member of a small team and to collaborate adaptively and effectively with professionals across the organization
- Strong coordination skills, as well as the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and balance multiple projects simultaneously without losing sight of the overall goals
Preferred experience & skills:
- Experience working in an international development setting or globally would be an asset
- Knowledge of multiple languages a plus (Spanish, French or Arabic strongly preferred!)
- Experience using InDesign or other creative tools to deliver high quality donor-facing assets
- Experience writing grants focused on health, nutrition or another IRC sector of work
Working Environment:
- This role is eligible for full or part time and part time remote work. Please note that employees in a standard office working environment may be required to share workspace
- Some international travel may be required
- This role will require communication with international offices set in a range of time zones
