Job Summary: The incumbent will serve in a leadership role as the Planned Giving Development Officer to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward bequest intentions and other planned gifts (e.g., real estate, charitable gift annuities) from CRS donors residing in the western part of the US. The PGDO will collaborate work as a key partner with RDDs, as needed, to support the solicitation of planned gift intentions and outright planned gifts from major donors. Finally, the PGDO is also responsible for expanding CRS’ Professional Advisor network in the West.

Job Responsibilities:

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  1. Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with planned gift donors and prospects, including personal visits, events, telephone calls, and written and email correspondence.
  2. Conduct stewardship visits and gift planning prospect visits.
  3. Respond to inquiries or leads generated and follow up with appropriate cultivation, and stewardship tactics. Identify additional giving opportunities and implement activities (campaigns, events, etc.) for increasing and cultivating prospects and donors.
  4. Solicit: 5. bequest expectancies
  5. Charitable gift annuities
  6. Outright in-kind gifts of real estate, mineral rights, and closely held securities;
  7. Optimize utilization of the Opportunities Management system for activities such as portfolio assignments, reporting, use of resources and prospect development.
  8. Bring leadership in working with Leadership Giving, Principal Gifts and Annual Giving on collaborative efforts to increase bequest commitments, planned gift inquiries, and outright planned gifts. Keep abreast of programmatic developments to share with donors.
  9. Develop and maintain a network of professional advisors (volunteers) working with high-net-worth individuals. Organize and facilitate professional advisor meetings and events as appropriate.
  10. Provide the PG Director and staff with information and insights gleaned from donor contacts to contribute content to PG mailings and refine marketing materials.
  11. Provide quality content, including writing and editorial support as needed, for PG marketing and stewardship materials.
  12. Cross-train with other PG staff on donor stewardship best practices, planned gifts (bequests, annuities, IRAs, etc.) to respond to donor inquiries.
  13. Stay current regarding CRS p rogramming, news, and world events.
  14. Provide input in developing short and long-term planning.
  15. Other tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Internal: All Charitable Giving Units including Annual Giving, Leadership Giving, Principal Gifts, Donor Services, Analytics Unit; Church Outreach; MarComm; Finance; Office of Legal Counsel

External: Donors, professional advisors
