NRC
NRC seeks expressions of interest from people with the following skills/qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, or other related fields and extensive experience in protection in humanitarian and emergency contexts.
- Extensive knowledge of South Sudan context and demonstrate a strong understanding of humanitarian protection.
- A strong understanding of gender and protection issues in South Sudan and the social, cultural and economic context of the country.
- Is familiar with local social and cultural norms .
- Demonstrated experience in conducting protection assessments with proven experience conducting assessments and research using various methodologies such as in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, etc.
- Previous experience undertaking similar assignments in remote and/or hard-to-reach areas
- Excellent report writing and quantitative and qualitative data collection and analytical skills.
- Fluency in English, knowledge or Nuer and Dinka will be an added advantage
- Experience in working with NGOs, CBOs, and displaced population and communities.
- Extensive experience in gender and protection analysis

SCOPE
- The assessment is expected to be undertaken between June 06 and August 11, 2022
- The assessment will be conducted in 5 counties within 3 states namely: Central Equatoria State (Kajo Keji County); Jonglei state (Akobo and Bor counties); Unity State (Koch and Leer Counties)
LINE OF INQUIRY
The assessment will seek to answer the below questions:
- · What are the major protection risks/issues affecting women, men, boys and girls (WMBGs) including elderly persons with and without a disability? The focus will be on a) internally displaced WMBGs; b) returnee WMBGs; and c) WMBGs who are host population. Who is most affected? Why and how are they affected?
- · What potential and actual resources exist on the ground for and what strategies do WMBGs (displaced, returnees and host) with and without a disability use to identify, mitigate and respond to protection issues?
- · What services exist to respond to identified protection risks/issues? Who has and does not have access to existing services and what are the main access hindrances?
- · Do WMBGs with and without a disability equally participate in decision making? at a) household levels; b) community levels; c) project level.
