Job Purpose:

Violet has a significant presence in Syria and across the Arabic-speaking world, however, we are attempting to expand to new audiences, partners, and sponsors in the English-speaking world.

This role will be to tell Violet’s story, shape the narrative about the organization’s work and help create a positive public perception.

We are mainly concerned with extending Violet’s access to international events and conferences and being considered for awards to boost our publicity.

This role will be REMOTE (willing to work with colleagues/schedule meetings for GMT+3) and UNPAID. However, there are opportunities for international travel to the Violet head office (view details under ‘Compensation’ below).

Most work will be research-based, with weekly check-ins and occasional meetings as required.

The expectation is between 5-10 hours of work per week.

This role requires a high level of proactivity and creativity, meaning a high degree of flexibility to pursue projects/avenues that you are interested in.

Key Responsibilities

• Researching avenues for Violet to expand its influence, including its access to international events and conferences. This will require desk-based research and contacting organizational bodies. • Applying for awards. Violet is looking to be considered for awards to boost our publicity. It would be your job to search for and help apply for these awards. • Assist in organizing and executing events, campaigns, etc. Depending on the outcomes of the work detailed above, you will be expected to • Support relations with stakeholders, media, vendors, etc. • Fundraising: Where necessary, you will collaborate with the Fundraising department to generate money for Violet’s PR projects. This would require you to: • Identify and prepare grant proposals and/or other fundraising strategies for designed projects. • Extend the partner’s base as needed. • Undertake general administrative and clerical duties.

Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department’s organizational chart.

Qualification (Education/Work Experience)

• The Applicant must possess (or is extremely eager to learn and is passionate about) the following knowledge/skills and is able to demonstrate, that the essential functions of this position can be performed: • Proven high standard of written and verbal English, editing, and presentation skills with little to no assistance required (knowledge of Arabic would be a great advantage but not required) • Experience (academic or otherwise) of developing strategies across these areas • Possess basic knowledge in current issues and best practices relating to the humanitarian field (in the Syrian context would be an advantage) • Experience in a collaborative team working • Ability to come up with creative ideas and content for public relations • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to work with individuals from different cultures • Strong organizational and management skills- ability to multitask and prioritize. • Unparalleled passion and commitment to youth & community development.

Compensation:

Violet does NOT provide any kind of compensation, including stipends. However, there is the possibility of the organization covering travel and accommodation for interns if they are willing to relocate to our office in Antakya, Turkey (3 months minimum).
