JOB SUMMARY
The School-Age Family Advocate for the School-Age Village program assists students facing socio-emotional challenges and is a vital link between school, home, and community services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and/or equivalent Experience working with at-risk children and families
- Basic computer literacy, the ability to transport clients, and the desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and a commitment to the accuracy of data and enrollment process
- CPR and First Aid Certified. (Training paid and provided by the Operation Breakthrough)
- Ability to use a computer without accommodation and maintain daily electronic correspondence. Word, Google Docs, Excel, Childplus, Procare
- Able to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment

- Ability to handle questions and issues and provide detailed information on agency requirements, processes, and policies.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the School Age Education team to support students with social-emotional challenges, particularly during crisis times and when children are on-site.
- Monitor, document, and follow up on attendance issues weekly to ensure the safety of children and compliance with the attendance policy
- Support families in maintaining certification for childcare, regularly communicating regarding their certification status, and assisting with compliance tracking.
- Communicate school-age activities, center information, and events with school-age parents.
- Serve as a liaison between social services, families, and the School Age Education program.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of communication and activities with families and services provided by agency policies and procedures.
- Provide advocacy and support services for families enrolled in the School Age Village (SAV) program as needed.
- Ability to respond to crises and work safety plans with families
- Connect families to internal and external agency services, including food, clothing, diapers, financial assistance, and health and mental health services.
- Participate as an active member of an interdisciplinary team within the agency, attending huddles and offering perspective on family situations.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional activities as required by the Social Services Department or other agency administration
