Estates Services is responsible for the management and strategic direction of Oxford University’s functional and commercial estate within Oxfordshire. This comprises some 450 buildings and the infrastructure associated with them.
The Compliance team is responsible for overseeing health and safety, and environmental matters across Estates Services activities. The Senior Environment Officer is an important role within the Compliance team and will be responsible for supporting the strategic direction of all aspects of Health and Safety, with a particular focus on environmental issues.

About The Role
You will take the lead in the Compliance team on our environmental and management system matters, as well as being the principle point of contact with the safety office for all things related to the protection of the environment.
You will play a key role in the production of an environmental system, leading to the development of an integrated environmental management system in step with the wider University.
You will also will collaborate and support the compliance team and estates leadership in the delivery of the Estates Services vision and strategy.
Long-term planning and foresight is essential, along with monitoring how the legislative regime develops over time.
This is a new role so there is opportunity for someone with strong experience to really shape and develop the position over time.
About You
You will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic person with experience of, and a firm commitment to, maintaining high standards for health, safety and environmental matters. A strong experience of environmental and health and safety legislation, best practise approaches, and management is therefore essential.
Excellent written communication skills are key, along with the ability to produce high quality reports, often for non-specialist audiences.
First class inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels with tact, diplomacy and openness is also essential to your success.
You will also have a proven ability to plan and prioritise workload, and be comfortable contributing as part of a mixed discipline team.
The willingness to contribute to team building and team development is crucial.
