Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Senior Project Manager, Sun Business Network (SBN) / Workforce Nutrition Coordinatorto lead the implementation of the SBN, public-private partnership (PPP) and workforce nutrition projects at GAIN Ethiopia. This role will be on a 2 years fixed-term contract, subject to availability of funding. This position will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Senior Project Manager, SBN will be coordinating the GAIN team in supporting the SBN Coalition and other related nutrition agenda in Ethiopia.
You will provide technical leadership, manage resources and handle strategic and day-to-day activities that support the achievement of the project’s objectives. The post-holder will be expected to quickly develop strong relationships with relevant partners, exploiting synergies within GAIN and with external stakeholders to ensure continued, effective, and timely project delivery.
You will be responsible for influencing, providing leadership, and reconciling stakeholders’ interests in the project ensuring that the agreed objectives and aims are achieved.
Key Responsibilities include;
- Responsible for the overall strategic management and delivery of the project activities, ensuring achievements are met with emphasis on strengthening the SBN Coalition in Ethiopia including national and regional level
- Leading and managing the development and implementation of project workplans, outputs and budgets and tracking progress, including direct provision of regular updates to the Workstream global leads, funders, and country team leadership
- Ensuring efficient management of project funds through regular tracking of funds utilization and gaps thereof along with Ethiopia and global finance point persons
- Coordinating with the global SBN Program Support, Workforce Nutrition program support, Senior Program Manager, Knowledge, and Leadership (KL) Team, and internal stakeholders to successfully implement all components of the project
- Engaging with key partners including government departments to identify influencing agendas and harmonize policies, directives, standards, regulations, and guidelines appropriate to SBN, PPP and workforce nutrition
- Convening technical and policy level meetings between business, government, civil society, donors, and UN agencies to strengthen cross-sector dialogue on nutrition and building consensus on priorities and opportunities for business and nutrition in Ethiopia
- Maintaining a reference document repository, producing content and communication material for the global SBN
About You
The ideal candidate should have an extensive track record in project management, developing and managing multiple projects ideally within an international development setting. You should also have a proven track record in identifying and supporting SMEs, including female-led and female owned businesses, to scale-up private sector investment in nutrition.
The ideal candidate should have strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to negotiate, network and build relationships and influence at a high level. You will also have the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural and matrix-style environment.
The postholder should have the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work well under pressure with deadlines as well as being highly flexible and willing to ravelling to field project locations frequently.
About our Offer
The starting salary on offer for this role is from ETB 923,496 – ETB 1,056,480 per annum, depending on experience.
GAIN has a fair and competitive salary structure that allows for annual progression subject to good performance.
