Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital support, warehousing/logistics, technology, procure-to-pay, and accounts payable.

MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental social, and economic wellbeing – and fosters the participation of Indigenous businesses. Based in Burlington, ON, MMC operates regional hubs in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford and London as well as a hub and distribution center in Oakville.

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Strategic Sourcing Manager to primarily support our Child Welfare Sector (CWS), however when required, may also support Member hospitals. This Sourcing role will not only support these sectors, but with a key focus on IT, Professional & Corporate Services.

Position Overview

Reporting to a Senior Category Manager, this position is mainly responsible for providing support to lead and implement strategic sourcing processes which achieve best possible overall value by implementing contracts for safe, quality products and services. Although this Sourcing Manager role does not have any direct reports, this position is responsible for providing training on initiative-related work (as required), supporting escalations for contract issues, as well as risk management.

Demonstrate an ethical, professional, and accountable manner as a liaison between Members, Suppliers, Internal Stakeholders and Strategic Alliances. Responsible to uphold and support Public Procurement laws and directives.

Sourcing Initiatives – Full accountability for strategic sourcing activities including development, award, and management:

  • Oversee and direct the sourcing initiative process from start to finish including contract development, negotiations and management, ensuring the best possible outcome
  • Research business environment for initiatives
  • Manage all stakeholders through their roles and responsibilities within the sourcing initiative
  • Provide pertinent information relating to regulatory business environment information
  • Review analysis and create financial analysis
  • Preparing and presenting, to all stakeholders, all stages of sourcing initiatives
  • Monitor business performance monthly/quarterly and implement plans required to maintain target(s)
  • Cross functional team coordination
  • Risk assessment/risk mitigation
  • Contingency planning
  • Monitoring Supplier and Member compliance

Support various special projects within Strategic Sourcing such as;

  • Actively participates in the development and implementation of corporate business plans and new opportunities
  • Provide support to internal projects such as new customer growth opportunities, special projects with the CWS, Ministry of Health/Ontario Health
  • Support Member Engagement with the onboarding of new members to MMC,
  • Provide input/assistance to large, high profile sourcing initiatives (MPSC, ministry)
  • Support the development of improved processes and templates for further standardization (MMC & MPSC)
  • Manage work plan reviews
  • Policy and Procedures updates
  • Support and contribute to other MMC initiatives and projects as required

Skills and Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • University Degree (4 years)
  • 5+ years’ experience in Contracting, Strategic Sourcing, Public Procurement Purchasing, Material Management, Project Management, Management experience in a Canadian healthcare related field
  • Certified SCMP Designation or PMP Certification, Public Procurement Designation is an asset
  • Demonstrated proficient communication skills, both written and oral
  • Demonstrated organization/time management skills
  • Bilingual an asset

Training/Special Skills

  • Familiarity with online RFx software (i.e., Bonfire / Biddingo);
  • MS Office, business – advanced knowledge;
  • Developing/conducting presentations– advanced knowledge;
  • Project Management training;
  • Conflict resolution training;
  • Negotiation training;
  • Business writing.

  • Ability to lead multi-discipline project teams;
  • Ability to interact with all levels of internal staff, CWS Leads, hospital staff, clinicians, external stakeholders, suppliers;

Travel

  • Travel to Corporate Customer Sites and between Mohawk Medbuy office locations.
