ABOUT THE ROLE Amnesty International is looking for a seasoned Strategy and Impact Adviser to lead and facilitate inclusive processes aimed to agree, adapt, and learn from all the work for positive human rights impact in the region.

JOB PURPOSE To support enhanced impact of Amnesty International’s human rights programmes by embedding effective planning, monitoring, evaluation, and learning practices in the Americas Regional Office and other Amnesty entities in the Americas. The adviser will support development and assessment of regional strategies and ensure coherence with global impact analysis and learning practices and implement processes for integrated strategic planning globally, regionally, and nationally.

ABOUT YOU You have significant experience leading and facilitating inclusive processes to build strategies, plans, as well as impact assessment and learning for organizations focused on positive change in human rights or in other social causes. You are savvy in designing and applying participatory workshops, conversations, and other mechanisms for gathering interest and enabling decision making on strategic choices with broader civil society movements, fostering diverse inclusive participation, particularly from historically marginalized groups. You are a learning – equipped specialist, always ready to extract main lessons from actions and able to recommend the best way by which organizations can apply them to adapt their strategies continuously.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development and implementation of regional strategies, and of strong influencing strategies and theories of change for regional, sub-regional or country-specific human rights projects or campaigns.
  • Guide planning and prioritization processes across the region. Facilitate processes and build a culture of collaboration between entities and teams in the region. Ensure coherence between regional and global strategies.
  • Build capacity and skills on planning, monitoring & evaluation to support the advancement of Amnesty’s approach to impact assessment, refining and testing new and existing methodologies.
  • Build an organizational culture of strategic learning, collaboration and embedding reflection and learning practices.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in impact-oriented planning, developing, and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks and systematizing organizational learning – especially in cross-functional and cross-regional project teams and organizations.
  • Experience in strategy and theory of change development for social change and human rights impact.
  • Excellent facilitation skills and experience in the application and strengthening of participatory methodologies with a range of audiences, both online and offline.
  • Experience in developing and refining impact and evaluation methodologies, with capability to conduct and manage evaluations, particularly in complex international and cross-functional settings.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in Spanish and proficiency in English.
