Employment Type: Full-time, Contract Department : Housing Services Union: Excluded File #: 24-HS-18 Posting Date: July 16, 2024 Posting Close : July 30, 2024 Position Summary Reporting to the Manager, Housing Services, the Supervisor, Food Access will lead the Food Access team while building relationships with the food access food security team. The Food Access Supervisor will also be responsible for assisting the team with preparing community-based meal programs. They will also work in collaboration with other team members to recruit participants, conduct health promotion activities related to healthy eating, and facilitate and support participant involvement and learning about cooking and healthy eating through the preparation of congregate meals. Duties and Responsibilities Supervise the Food Access Workers, and Peer Workers. Ensuring effective coordination and delivery of services to clients.

Supports creating schedules for the Food Access team. Administer the planning of healthy menus for Food Access programs, including managing weekly inventory and purchasing Oversees the food preparation in accordance with regulations established by the Toronto Department of Public Health. Monitor and actively participate in Case Management Meetings. Train and supervise peers, as well as corporate, and agency volunteers in food handling, preparation, and service practices. Explore intra-agency relationships to maximize the impact on food security in the communities served.  Design, plan and implement exciting and culturally appropriate food programming to educate and address food insecurity. Maintain a safe and welcoming environment through excellent customer service and conflict management.  Participates in quality monitoring and improvement activities Meet regularly with Manager to discuss individual, team, and program effectiveness. Other duties as required. Qualifications Diploma or degree in nutrition, culinary sciences, social work, other post-secondary education or previous work experiences Experience in the housing sector is considered an asset. Previous experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a food access or community development setting. Food Handlers certification. Knowledge of food security systems, community-building strategies, and social determinants of health.  Demonstrated community development experience. Excellent customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Strong understanding of food insecurity issues effecting low-income and homeless individuals. Sensitive to the needs of low-income and homeless individuals. Strong written and verbal English language communication skills; other languages an asset. Emergency First Aid/CPR certification preferred. Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer. Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency. Must have up-to-date vaccinations against COVID-19 with a vaccine that has been approved for use in Canada.
