Job Title: Supply Chain Data Science Specialist – I

Department: GSCM

Reports To: Integration and Performance Manager

Country/Location: Open to telecommuting

Job Summary:

The Global Supply Chain Management Unit (GSCM) within CRS is transforming how supply chain operations function to provide best-in-class services from our Country Programs to our beneficiaries. We are in the process of developing and deploying new systems to help make us more efficient and effective. Among our systems deployed is “Insight”, an Oracle Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning system. The web-based, real-time system will help to give more visibility and controls of daily operations.

We are looking for a Data Science Specialist to help us design, develop and deploy high-quality reports and business intelligence to enable data-based decisions. The Data Science Specialist will utilize Insight, third-party data stores, and other information resources to provide information and knowledge to key stakeholders at the country, regional and headquarters levels. This will be delivered through reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.

This position requires an independent, self-motivated, and analytical individual who can work with geographically dispersed team members and stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

The Data Science Specialist has an in-depth understanding of underlying data, data structures and a general knowledge of business uses for data. S/he possesses knowledge and experience with presenting data to operational and management personnel that enables decision making. S/he is a “storyteller using data”, accomplishing this through the design, development, and delivery of reports, dashboards, and data visualizations depicting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on supply chain operations.

Specific tasks include:

  • Creating Dashboards and Reports – empowering stakeholders to use data to make key decisions through building dashboards and reports.
  • Tracks and processes requests for queries, reports, and data visualizations. Delivers requests in a timely manner.
  • Clearly defines outcomes through collaboration with requestors and key business stakeholders. Works with stakeholders to articulate analytic questions. Ensures that all parties agree with the business needs, information requirements, and key data elements that will be utilized.
  • Perform and document data analysis, data validation, and data mapping/design.
  • Accesses data, cleans and transforms it as necessary, performs data analysis to answer the relevant business questions, and then visualizes and communicates the results.
  • Under the direction of the Integration and Performance Manager, helps to implement learning programs to assist staff successfully adopt and analyze Supply Chain KPIs. Provides continuous support to assigned regions and Country Programs (CPs) on data analysis.
  • Helps to establish data visualization standards within GSCM.
  • Prepare presentations and written materials that communicate complex analyses and findings in a simple, concise, and interpretable manner.

Qualifications

Background, Experience & Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or beyond in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, Supply Chain, or related analytical field.
  • A minimum of one (1) years of supply chain experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of one (1) years of experience working with large-scale data sets.
  • A genuine passion for data science and drive to communicate using data.
  • Experience utilizing ETL (extract, transform, load) to design, build, test and distribute customized reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.
  • Experience with SQL, Power BI, Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) functions, Tableau, and other data presentation software.
  • Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills and expertise.
  • Experience with human centered design approaches.
  • Ability to work in cross-regional and cross-functional teams, collaborate with all levels of management is required.
  • Ability to work non-traditional business hours to support CPs globally.
