Position summary :

Mehad is currently looking for a Country Representative to lead its activities in Ukraine. S/he will be the leadership of MEHAD’s presence and operation in Ukraine. The Ukraine Country Representative will be primarly responsible to ensure quality programming and enhanced accountability in Mehad activities implementation, ensuring close coordination with different stakeholders (project team, support departments, partners). S/he will contribute to analyse the humanitarian situation on the ground and identify potential needs and area of intervention and formulate response strategies.

Roles and responsibilities :

Project management and development

  • Define the project’s strategy for MEHAD with the CEO
  • Ensure the activities are implemented properly, provide regular updates and reports, set and follow-up on deadlines
  • Manage the project’s budget
  • Contribute to problem solving and give additional support for emerging issues in project implementation
  • Define partnership strategy with national counterparts in Ukraine (CBOs, NGOs, local authorities, etc)
  • Lead the development of new concept notes and proposals for existing donors and seek new funding opportunities under the supervision of the CEO and supported by the senior partnership and grants coordinator

Country team leadership

  • Lead, structure and evaluate the project team in Ukraine (currently 5 staff)
  • Ensure staff wellbeeing is addressed and create an effective teamwork environment
  • Plan for the future staffing needs and oversee the recruitment and orientation of the staff

Internal positioning and Reporting :

Position reports to : CEO

Qualifications, experience and skills :

  • Academic background

[Required] MA/ MSc / MBA Degree or Diploma in NGO management, development studies and other relevant humanities and/or social sciences

[Preferred] Academic background related to public-health and/or humanitarian/conflict management is an additional asset

  • Professional/Practical Experience

[Required] At least seven years of senior leadership experience in complex humanitarian context

[Required] Proven experience in managing higher level institutional relations, strategic humanitarian and operational planning

[Required] Demonstrated experience in program design (including proposal development), implementation and evaluation

[Required] Demonstrated capacity to raise financial resources from range of donors

  3. Strong intercultural competence and emotional intelligence
  4. Sound understanding and devotion to professionalism, especially in front of an external audience and representatives of high-level institutions, partners and donors
  5. Excellent written and oral communication in English
  6. Detail-oriented approach with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  7. Languages : Ability to read, write and communicate professionally in English is mandatory, French language is an asset
  8. Ability to work remotely with an international team across different countries and particularly including cross-cultural dimensions
