What difference will you make?
As an infrastructure organisation we aim to strengthen the voluntary and community sector across South West Surrey. We support all members of the local community to access services to improve their health and wellbeing. As part of our board you will support and shape our work and strategic direction, as well as help us achieve this purpose. The Chair of Trustees is a key role in our organisation. Your leadership and commitment will ensure we continue to provide and extend our range of much-needed support and services.
What are we looking for?
To strengthen our board, we are looking for people who have over 3 years experience in any of the following areas – Governance, Strategic Development and Planning, HR, Health and Safety and Safeguarding. We are also seeking a Treasurer who has many years experience in Accountancy. In addition, the successful candidate will be able to fulfil the person specification below Trustee person specification Commitment to the organisation Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort Strategic vision Good, independent judgment Ability to think creatively Willingness to speak their mind Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship Ability to work effectively as a member of a team Nolan’s seven principles of public life selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
What will you be doing?
What skills do I need? The Role Trustee We are inviting experienced, passionate individuals to join our Board as Trustees, contributing to our journey. Board meetings are your platform to influence, guide, and support VASWS’s strategic direction. Beyond governance, Trustees engage with the community, representing VASWS at local events and helping steer our mission forward. Benefits Include Making a lasting impact in the community. We are based in central Guildford and Board Meetings are held 4 times a year on a Tuesday at 4pm via Teams, plus an annual AGM and occasional sub group meetings.
