Job Summary

The Writer/Editor I, English is responsible for producing compelling, on-brand content that advances campaign messaging and strategic priorities within the Mission and Mobilization (M 2) division. The Writer/ Editor I, English writes original content; provides editorial feedback to ensure consistent tone, voice, grammar and Catholic identity; and supports the M 2 side of the design processes and timelines, in collaboration with Marketing and Communications’ project management team.
The Writer/Editor I, English works within the Content and Communications team to adapt content for key audiences, including youth, college/university students and adults, and prioritizes the production of bilingual, bicultural content.

Roles and Key Responsibilities

  • Writes, edits and publishes content—including advocacy, fundraising and volunteer mobilization tools— for a variety of print and digital platforms, including websites, blogs, videos, email, text marketing campaigns and Mission & Mobilization constituent engagement campaigns including the CRS Rice Bowl Lenten program.
  • Supports the production cycles of individual content pieces in collaboration with the Content and Communications manager and Writer II. Follows an editorial calendar, collaborating with other members of the Content and Communications team, to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Applies latest research and best practices to continuously improve and refine content in support of improving key performance indicators.
  • Work s with the Content and Communications manager and Constituent Advocacy and Action team to implement digital marketing plans and tactics through competitive research, benchmarking and messaging to achieve maximum engagement with clients.
  • Edit s and adapt s content to reflect appropriate messaging for key audience segments and participate in ongoing monitoring and evaluation of content effectiveness in driving these audiences to complete campaign actions.
  • Uses engine optimization (SEO) strategies in writing to maximize the online visibility of website in search results.
