Action Contre la Faim

Created in 1979, Action contre la Faim is a non-governmental organization that fights against hunger. Its charter of humanitarian principals- independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, free and direct access to victims, professionalism, transparency – has been part of its identity for more than 40 years. Its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection and treatment of under-nutrition, particularly during and after emergency situations linked to conflicts or natural disasters. Action contre la Faim focuses its actions on 5 main areas of expertise: Nutrition and Health – Mental Health and Care Practices, Gender and Protection – Food Security and Livelihoods – Water, Sanitation and Hygiene – Advocacy. You will work with the Country Director to provide leadership to the development and maintenance of the program’s strategy for the mission.
You will ensure the overall implementation of the operational strategy of the mission and follow-up the quality of the programs, and develop new project proposals in line with the mission strategy
More precisely your missions will be to :
– Ensure coordination and implementation of programs and operational management in line with the country strategy.
– Design the programmatic strategy of the mission and develop project proposals
– Manage the Program Team
– Analyze the humanitarian needs (in country and at regional level)
– Represent and liaise with donors, authorities, UN, NGOs on operational strategy and program-related issues
– Follow-up on management of program budgets
– Represent Country Director when and as required


– A Master’ s degree in development / humanitarian aid, international relations or a field relevant to ACF expertize (WASH, FSL, nutrition / health, MHCP)
– At least 5 years of project management experience in international NGOs and in a similar coordination position
– Leadership and management skills in a complex international setting
– Extensive knowledge and understanding of Humanitarian coordination mechanisms
– Knowledge of ACF’s main sectors of intervention: WASH, FSL, MHCP, nutrition
– Extensive experience of grant management and development
– Knowledge of the main donors policy and requirements
– Strategic planning and program design and development
– Understanding of different methodologies of monitoring and evaluation and experience in developing MEAL systems
– It is mandaroty to be fluent in English (written and spoken)
The role is best taken on by a candidate able to demonstrate a good ability to manage senior management staff but also the personnal initiative to investigate new programatic opportunities for the Bangladesh mission that are in line with the countries needs, and engage with the larger national NGO community in identifiying strategic partnerships that promote growth in new geographical areas and activities.


– 12 months fixed term contract under French legislation
– Monthly gross salary from 2735EUR to 3185EUR upon experience
– Monthly per diem and living allowance: 603EUR net, field paid
– Monthly country allowance: 150EUR
– 16% of the gross monthly salary for pension insurance reimbursement for non-French citizens
– Transportation and accommodation: Coverage of transportation costs and guest house
– Medical coverage: 100% coverage of medical expenses and repatriation insurance
– Leaves and RnR: 25 days of paid leaves per year, 20 RnR per year and 215 EUR at each RnR period
