Accountant

Position: Accountant

Reports to: Senior Accountant

Duty station : Amman

AVSI Foundation, an NGO created in 1972, carries out cooperation projects for development, with particular emphasis on education. In its work, its attention is focused on the defense and promotion of the dignity of the person, the cornerstone of every project. We work all around the world thanks to a network of 35 founding members and more than 700 partners worldwide.

AVSI Foundation has been operating in Jordan since 2006 and contributed in supporting the most vulnerable local communities, Palestinian, Iraqi and Syrian refugees through providing projects and activities that focus on health and psycho-social assistance, education, vocational training and job placement and income-generating activities.

About the position:

Maintain all accounting information, ensure that all accounting and financial transactions and data are correctly implemented according to policies and procedures, analyzing General ledger accounts and reconciles all types of accounts.

Role and responsibilities:

· Ensure that all accounting and financial transactions and data are correctly provided and registered according to policies and procedures.

· Ensure that all financial documents are accurately supported, approved and coded, and that all check list, petty cash, Posted Invoices are maintained correctly.

· Monthly closure of all accounting transactions, including accruals, prepaid and any other.

· Maintaining proper filing system for all financial documents both soft and hard copies as per internal procedures.

· Assisting in the preparation of all governmental dues and taxations, Salaries taxes and Social Security contributions.

· Participates and assists in the yearly and projects reporting and audit visits to ensure proper closure.

· Updates job knowledge by participating in training and educational opportunities; reading professional publications and donor guidelines.

· Willing and able to perform any other duties requested by the management within the area of competence.

· Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.

Competencies:

· A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a relevant field.

· A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in NGO/INGO.

· Excellent in Arabic and Proficiency in English.

· Strong Interpersonal, oral and written Communication skills

· Familiarity with accounting and financial management practices in humanitarian sector

· Computer literacy and good knowledge in ERP Systems – Microsoft Dynamics Navision experience is a plus

· Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office programs
