JOB SUMMARY
The role of the District Health Information System (DHIS2) Developer is to provide technical support to the DHIS2 Analyst and end users during the implementation of evidence-based program/project management tools both at the field and at HQ level. The primary support area is for the DHIS2 and related subcomponents. The DHIS2 Junior Developer will be working closely with the DHIS Analyst during the requirement gathering and user acceptance phases of the application development lifecycle. S/he will be responsible for the creation of all DHIS2 back-end components during the development phase of the application development lifecycle. S/he will facilitate communication of complex technical information in an easy and user-friendly manner and will provide support for the systems after they go live.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support to DHIS2 Analyst and end users throughout the entire application development lifecycle. The primary support area is for the District Health Information System and related subcomponents (DHIS2).
- Work closely with DHIS2 Analyst during the requirement gathering and user acceptance sessions.
- Create all relevant DHIS2 back-end objects during the entire application development lifecycle including but not limited to data elements, indicators, data entry forms, reports and dashboards, MS Excel import files.
- Review and provide feedback on user testing plans, user manuals, and other supporting documents.
- Facilitate communication of complex technical information in an easy and user-friendly manner.
- Participate in the meetings related to demos and various client presentations.
- Conduct technical research on the new system features and provide relevant presentations to the end users.
- Recommending improvements and assist in changes to best practices.
- Implement regular system upgrades.
- Provide support for the systems after they go live in a very dynamic, geographically distributed and timeline sensitive work environment.
- Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Effectively work in both independent and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Automate the export functions for various global MEAL reports including but not limited to quarterly country report, COVID-19 frameworks to ease the integration with PowerBI.
- Support the preparation of dashboards and inforgraphics in MEAL department using PowerBi, Venngage and other similar software.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Typically, Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, information science, information systems or related. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substitute as appropriate.
- Up to 3 years of experience developing DHIS2, as well as experience developing web applications with: Java/J2EE, Spring, Struts, Apache Velocity templates, Hibernate
- Knowledge in Health Management Information Systems
- Knowledge of SQL, MySQL and Oracle databases, PostgreSQL
- Understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
- SOA design and web service development including REST, SOAP, JSON
- Experience in client side scripting including JavaScript, JQuery, HTML5
- Basic understanding of data modeling Data Modeling and Data Warehouse technologies
- Hands on experience working in integrated development environments, including IntelliJIDEA, NetBeans, Eclipse
- Experience working with enterprise applications, including ERP, CRM, etc.
- knowledge of UML and Design Patterns.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Visio
- Advanced proficiency with TFS (Team Foundation Server)
