The Executive Director serves as the primary spokesperson and leader, representing the organization within the community, working closely with the Board of Directors, and driving initiatives to address animal welfare challenges. The role also involves implementing strategic goals, fostering a collaborative work environment, and managing fundraising efforts to generate necessary resources for growth and impact.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strategic leadership for staff, volunteers, and programs.
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the organization, ensuring alignment with long-term goals and mission-driven initiatives. Lead the organization in adapting to emerging challenges and opportunities in the animal welfare sector.
- Partner with the Board to develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy. Build and maintain relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and foundationslead efforts in major gift fundraising, capital campaigns, and innovative funding models.
- Oversee financial management, budgeting, and sustainability efforts.
- Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors on governance, strategic planning, and organizational oversight. Ensure effective decision-making processes and alignment on strategic objectives.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and industry standards.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the organization. Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, civic organizations, businesses, media, and other stakeholders to promote the organization’s mission and impact.
- Oversee all aspects of the organization’s operations, including human resources, financial management, and program delivery. Ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining high standards of accountability and transparency.
- Foster a positive, inclusive organizational culture that attracts, motivates, and retains talented staff. Promote collaboration, professional development, and a strong commitment to the organization’s values and mission.
- Lead efforts to promote animal welfare through education, outreach, and community engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, business administration, animal science).
- Minimum 5 years of senior management experience in a nonprofit organization, including 3 years of experience leading and supervising teams.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor cultivation, and financial management.
- Strong financial management skills, including budget development and oversight.
- Experience in animal welfare, including a strong understanding of best practices in animal care.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to emergencies when necessary.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification as an Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA).
- Knowledge of legal obligations and responsibilities related to animal care and adoption.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
In addition to a competitive base salary of $86,000 (DOE), this organization provides two weeks of PTO and major holidays! This unique opportunity, position, and mission will inspire you daily!
