Center for Victims of Torture

Title: Gender Technical Consultant

Organization: The Center for Victims of Torture works toward a future in which torture ceases to exist and its victims have hope for a new life. We are an international nonprofit dedicated to healing survivors of torture. We offer rehabilitation services to those who have been tortured, train partners around the world who can prevent and treat torture, and advocate for human rights and an end to torture. We are headquartered in Minnesota with offices in Africa and the Middle East.

Helping Survivors Heal (HSH) is a capacity development activity funded by USAID. CVT collaborates with torture rehabilitation organizations across the world to support them in achieving their goals related to mental health treatment; organizational development; and monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

Timeline: The consultancy will begin mid October and be completed by January 1.

Project Description: CVT’s HSH program has identified 12 partner organizations based in 11 countries. The gender specialist consultant will complete a gender analysis for each of the 11 countries of the partner organizations. The consultant will utilize the gender analysis framework guidance document that was developed by HSH as a guide for content development.

In addition, the gender specialist will develop and implement a 4 hour training to be delivered via zoom to relevant CVT staff on best practices to developing a gender analysis (e.g. for proposals, for program development and implementation) and applying it to program implementation.

It is expected that the above work will require a commitment of 150-200 hours to complete.
