Habitat Area Office for Europe and the Middle East (EME) is currently seeking to recruit for a MENA Housing Forum Communications Intern.

The first ever Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Housing Forum will take place November 21-23. It will be a hybrid event, with the in-person gathering located in Cairo, Egypt. The MENA Housing Forum is part of a global series of housing forums organized by Habitat for Humanity in collaboration with partner organizations in different regions of the world. It will provide a platform for housing stakeholders across the region to rise up to ongoing housing challenges, including the persistence of informality, the rise in refugees, the need for increased resilience in the face of climate change, and the increase in vulnerable populations in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

As the MENA Housing Forum Intern you will provide support to the MENA Housing Forum Coordinator and Global Communications team in the Europe and the Middle East (EME) Area Office.

The main responsibilities:

  • Pre-event promotion
  • Post-event evaluation and reporting
  • Support online campaigns on social media, email campaigns (MailChimp) and paid promotion (Google Ads, Meta ads)
  • Drafting social media posts
  • Preparing graphics, easy design work
  • Promotion of MENA Housing Forum
  • Administrative tasks, support to project reporting processes
  • Support with logistics and organization of events and meetings
  • On-site support during the event
  • Assistance in the project audits and evaluations
  • Desk research
  • Other support to the project team as needed

What are we expecting?

  • Fresh graduates or advanced applicants with a maximum of one to two years of experience
  • Fluency in Arabic and English is a must, knowledge of other European language is an advantage
  • Very good computer skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience in design programs and tools (Canva, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) is an advantage
  • Good interpersonal, communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Interest an internship in a multicultural environment with focus on international development
